I am posting this because I want to suggest, promote, and market a book about Asperger's that helped me.

The book is titled "I want to be like you." It was written by Travis Breeding, and was published in 2010.

It is one of the best books I have read about Asperger's/Autism, and it has a lot of great advice for people with Asperger's.

The book can be purchased at http://www.travisbreeding.com, or by searching for it on Amazon.

The book was also in my local library, but according to Travis, only about 450 copies have been sold.

Travis can be emailed at [email protected]

He will almost certainly reply to emails.

Travis has two websites.

Travis is also available for speaking engagements and presentations. He lives in Huntington, Indiana.

Here is a summary that is on the back page of the book. Travis gave me permission to post it here.

Travis Breeding has never been like others. Growing up, he noticed some of the differences--he had a bed-wetting issue; he had difficulty with fine motor skills; he became obsessed with his special interest, trombone; and most troubling for him, he had trouble making friends. He just couldn't seem to fit in with anyone and didn't understand how socializing worked. He couldn't understand why people didn't like him. Why did everyone think he was so weird of creepy or psycho? Was he?

Travis hit a low point in his college days, and began making suicide attempts. When he finally learned he has Asperger's, it wasn't quite the solution he longed for. He didn't want to accept it. But once he embraced it, he realized he could begin making changes that could someday lead to living the life he wants--one that includes a family and good friends. And even more, he could help others just like him.

Now Travis is on a mission to help us all understand what Asperger's is and how we can help those around us who seem a little, or a lot, different. With a combination of personal experiences, information about Asperger's and the autism spectrum, and Travis' observation and advice, I Want to be Like You proves to be a perfect tool to help readers who are on the spectrum, are helping someone on the spectrum, are helping someone on the spectrum, or just want to understand what this relatively new diagnosis is to bridge the gap between autistic and neurotypical individuals.

Keri Bowers (a filmmaker, speaker, parent, and advocate), wrote on the back page,

"With bold and honest candor, Travis helps us to understand the young and baffling Asperger's mind in a fresh new light... He weaves his story in a way that helps us to make sense of the subtleties and nuances of the disorder. [This book] plants powerful seeds of thought for those who love Aspies all over the world!"
