I just got banned from a forum for trolling. All I did was ask weird questions. I wasn't being mean to anyone.

They probably just took the questions the wrong way, thats all.
What sort of questions did you ask?

Every forum\community has different ideas and moderation style, some are lax, some are strict, what is "trolling" on one may not be trolling on another (a lot of people would be amazed at what is considered trolling on this site). It's generally a good idea to observe a forum before getting too stuck in to see what the style is and what is considered acceptable. If the forum is serious in tone they may well object to "weird questions" as just trying to illicit arguments.

Maybe it was a more serious and strict website that doesn't appreciate weirdness.
I got blocked from contributing on Quora for reasons and that's because I've never been on such a serious forum before.
I really like Quora though so that's kind of sad...

"Are upperclass Ecuadorians genetically closer to Central Americans?"
"Will I have baby fat forever?"
"How can I look less sweet and innocent?"
"Why didn't people speak Spanish to me in LA?"

It wasn't a serious forum. At least not as serious as Quora.

NT sites & forums don't seem to give much slack when it comes to accommodating autistics, even if we let them know exactly how we may be misunderstood. Their attitude sometimes seems to be, "it's your responsibility to fit in".

I can often do so if I really need to, by saying things very carefully & politely, with many disclaimers in eight sentences what should've only taken one, and proofreading. And then I apologize when I'm misunderstood, going through all that again for the apology. It comes down to how badly do I really want to be in their NT world for that topic/discussion/whatever...

I do fine on most NT forums. On anthropology forums I actually fit in pretty well.

Perhaps it would be better to use Google and Wikipedia to find answers to your questions rather than asking people on web-forums...

I think when people don't understand somebody's behaviour, they often assume they're taking the mickey or being hostile.

I think the concept of having to understand people's behavior is mostly a British/Western concept. People from other cultures rarely feel the need to understand my behavior. They just let me be.

If only everybody could be like that. I've always thought it obvious that as long as somebody isn't doing any harm, the best thing is to cut them some slack.

Coulda asked those right here on WP.

1)Kinda a meaningless question since both countries are mixed racially, and race tends to be stratified by class. Both central Americans and Ecuadorians are a mixture of Indian and European. The upper class in both regions tend to be White, and Spanish (excepty maybe Belize which was a British colony so there its White and British). The lower class in both are Indian except in Belize where they tend to be Black, or Indian.

2) No .

3) Get tattoos, nose rings, tongue rings, and wear spikey dog collars.Dont forget the "tramp stamp" ( the obligatory tatto at the base of your spine, and above the rear end). Lol!

4) Did you try speaking Spanish to them? Ask them directions in Spanish maybe?

I can definitely see why people would think that is trolling, you're effectively asking people to confirm or deny racial stereotypes.

I agree! I was trying to figure out how to say that last night and couldn't put it into words. It's a British or North American white people thing to do. And yeah what ToughDiamond said too.

It would depend on the weird questions and how they are asked.

I've been accused of trolling a couple of times on WP.
I didn't think I was being trollish.
If a troll is someone who purposefully types inflammatory comments for the reaction value of others, then that wasn't my intent.

I think the definition of troll has expanded to include anyone who thinks tangentially, and annoys others by doing so.

If weird questions are annoying enough to others, you will be considered a troll, no matter what your intent in asking.

1. I noticed that people in the upper middle class were a white/native mix like most people. I just noticed that the native side looked more Mexican and Central American than Andean. I was wondering if there was an actual difference or if it was just due to being more white.

2. I'm not so sure. It seems like my mom still has baby fat.

3. lol

4. I'm happy they spoke English to me. I'm not that great at Spanish. I'm just wondering why they spoke English if people on online forums think I look like a light skinned Mexican.
