I took the autism test and tested 34 out if 50; very likely an aspie. My wife tested 7. That score is so low, it's like super normal. Or is it? Does anyone know someone that tested that low?

Sometimes I wonder if she's autistic; she can be extremely logical, although extremely emotional at the same time. She's pretty OCD about organization and stuff (never dx'd). And I think she'd make an amazing lawyer because you cannot win an argument with her, period.

We both took the test where it shows your traits as a diagram that looks like a deformed cookie. Mine was mostly to the right, and hers was almost completely opposite of mine, we could make a complete circle out of it if we put our results together.

I keep thinking about that 7 score. Any thoughts?

I got a 7 too. I am quite logical (well more than many of my friends and family) with a passion for science. I am very evidence led. I try to be hyper rational about my own emotions. I'd still say I am very emotional in that I feel things strongly - sometimes I believe the things I feel/sometimes I don't. Mostly, I find it very easy to ignore my body if it doesn't agree with my brain and soul.
I am intensely romantic, possible spiritual, with my closest friends.

So I am not at all autistic, I'm "NT", but I like hanging out here because I dont think my thinking is that different to most folk here.
I'm not sure I believe in NTs.

My wife has never met anyone like her before, until now. She could have written your post word for word. Your mechanisms and opinions are identical.

I know quite a lot of people who I would say are like me. They have a similar need to have honest, romantic closeness to others (I don't mean sex although thats also extremely important to me), and they do things their own way. I'm quite sociable and have a lot of proper friends, many of whom would seem to have strong autistic traits (research scientists).

I guess I've spent time looking for and finding them. Getting involved in a lot of things to find interesting people and sub-cultures. Its no dress-rehearsal,is it?, You got to find people to love and hang out with them :-) Loving lovely people makes me happy.

I think its a geographical, cultural, and environmental thing. There are plenty of posters on here who would tell you NTs are defined by their thinking. Thats not my experience. Many posters really sound like they have never met a decent, honest, sane, fair, loving, smart NT. They define NTs as all the traits they don't like in humans, and all the traits that have given them a sh***y deal. Personally I think they have just met too many sh***y human beings. And the dominant culture in most places is defined by the sh***y human beings.

I read posts and I wish I could pluck some folk out away from the sh***y NTs they meet and take them to meet lovely people who they might love.

Thank you for posting this. Most people I meet are like this.

I get the impression a lot of people on this forum base their opinions of NTs on their close family or their school experiences. Neither are true reflections of the adult world.

That...can't be right.

LOL. That just makes no sense, Most of those questions apply to normal human traits, 7 would be like...my mind is blown.

I got a 33 and I think most NT women score around 20-25.

To have such a low score, I really don't understand. Does your wife have any other kind of diagnosis or learning disability.

I knew someone with bipolar I and ADHD who scored very low.

Seen others do it as well. I don't think it's really all that far out.

That's true, too low can be abnormal also.

I just took it again (its been a year or so) and I got a 6 this time.

I don't think my answers would be that different to many NT female friends I know. I think its a fairly ordinary response.
Different to most of my male friends, but not all. It really isn't that far out at all.

I can answer it on behalf of my closest friends pretty accurately. I do it for them and then compare the score they get for themselves. I get there plus or minus one.

I get a 6. We are talking about the same test right? I have no diagnosis or learning difficulty. I just like being with people, I'm very sociable and pretty relaxed about most things, and I'm good at reading people. I think thats very ordinary to me.

I took the test a few years ago but it was more about sensitivity to the environment, repetitive behaviors, and other AS traits that don't have a lot to do with socializing or other people.

I'm sure there were a few questions like that but most were just a measure of traits that all humans have to some degree. Unless they're just really...mellow?

IDK, I first saw that test on a forum/chat room for women. The lowest scores I saw were around 19.

I never had the diagram you're talking about OP, that sounds like the Aspie test but that's longer than 50 questions. The test I took with 50 questions was AQ.

I don't think a score below 26 indicates anything other than "you are very likely not on the autistic spectrum." I doubt that a score of 6 indicates any particular "abnormality."
