i'm an Aspie and for some reason cannot connect with TV (with the rare exception of certain documentaries, news items of interest and court disputes between real people).

I find TV oddly depressing and a diluted form of entertainment. I'd much rather go on the net or check out a DVD movie. Even then have to be in a certain mood to be able to watch a movie.

I like games and stuff you can actively participate in (with the exception of idle conversation).

Sitcoms i find dull and boring, and most TV series and reality shows...i just can't connect with it because it doesn't seem enough like reality. The news I can tolerate, but only if it is interesting and of a certain topic.

So do you like or dislike watching TV or are you mostly indifferent to the tube?

I do not own a television or a DVD player. I rarely play online video games. The last time I saw a movie was nearly two years ago when Tron came out. For whatever reason, my family does not like television.

I like non-fiction books but dislike fiction.

My 9 year old son with autism probably has an aversion to television.

This sort of thing makes me wonder how NT my family is.

I don't really enjoy watching TV all that much. I like older TV sitcoms, but they hardly ever put them on air any more. I also don't care for reality television or the majority of music videos that are played nowadays. I also find the news to be very depressing.

I don't mind TV. I just don't watch the drama. Sometimes they is too much program repeating, even with cable TV.

Comedys,
Sci-fi,
War,
How things are made,

Probably could go on ages.

Same with Films, everything except drama. I mean drama that is not a action drama or comedy drama etc.

I find it hard to watch live tv cause Im anxious esp with live news. I prefer dvds like The Simpsons cause its not real people ect like a video game. I love video games esp online like grand theft auto 4. I also find myself walking away from the other players and be by myself on top of a root top and shooting and get annoyed if someone follows me lol

I prefer movies to TV shows. When I do watch TV, it's almost always anime, but even then, I am very picky about what I will watch and enjoy. I have seen probably hundreds of episodes of different anime over the past year, but I've only finished maybe 3 or 4 series (with 12 to 26 episodes each) total.

It's funny; I like movies, but not TV. I guess I find that movies have a deeper plot for more developed characters than TV, I guess, because they are longer.

The only thing I really watch is interviews with guests that I am interested in, sports (sometimes, like when the playoffs are on or something, but I really prefer to be at the game), games shows and sometimes I watch whatever my parents are watching.

I turn on my television to play a video game every now and then. In rare cases I will actually turn it on to watch a new episode of The Big Bang Theory or Dexter. I don't enjoy many shows at all. I am choosy with what I watch.
I think TV is a low form of entertainment. There are so many other things I would rather be doing, so many useful things.
It's just not my thing, personally.

On the other hand, there are great channels like NatGeo and the History Channel. The commercials kill it for me though. Good thing for Netflix.

But hey, if people want to watch TV for hours on end because it makes them happy, I am really no one to judge. Personally there are a million other things I would rather choose to be doing with my time, though.

So to answer your question, yes I do have an aversion to the television.

I don't have a TV for many years because it's way too fast and too much, that is, i cannot follow dialogue and simultaneously a plot or the actor's gesture and facial expression, let alone background music.

There were some old b & w movies i enjoyed since they were slow and didn't have background noise. Hence one could almost follow them as radio play.

It's boring. I don't have a TV and don't want one. It's too slow, and not complex enough to be interesting, and I lose track of all the faces anyway. All of those pretty actors look the same to me. Nothing against pretty actors; I'm just face-blind and can't tell them apart half the time.

I enjoy watching sports, concerts and programs on Discovery Investigation channel. Otherwise I'm usually listening to music or doing stuff on the computer.

My special interest is film, but I don't have much of an interest in television. I never turn my TV on, unless I need background noise, and then it will be a non-fiction channel, like HGTV or Discovery Health.

I do, however, very much love more cinematic television shows; for instance, anything on AMC: Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and The Killing. Shows like the ones mentioned are very much like long films split into small pieces. Other shows that I enjoy are HBO and Showtime shows, like Oz, Six Feet Under, Shameless and United States of Tara.

The only comedy 'regular' cable shows I enjoy are 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.

For the record, I never watch any of the shows I enjoy at their scheduled time on TV...I end up downloading and watching them several days later, when I'm in the mood. I've never been able to get into a routine of sitting down to watch shows on a scheduled day and time.

Same for me except my family owns a TV, they complain that I never watch TV with them. I'm also not interested in the social dramas, dating dramas etc. that seem to dominate many TV programs, I dont mind a fast paced sci-fi thriller though, but have a hard time watching it all in one go. The inability to notice emotions, non-verbal communication etc. I think also causes me problems.
