Amongst my family, I am known for over-analyzing things, mostly music, but a few other things. Is this prevalent with those with AS, from experience? Also., I am terrible at making decisions, whether it is where to go for lunch, or something more serious, like what I want to pursue in life. Can anybody relate?

I can totally relate. I'm so introverted that I basically live in my head. I over-analyze things way too much that I give myself anxiety attacks. I'm also pretty indecisive about what I want to do with my life, it seems to change a lot.

Yeah I can relate....that's kind of how I feel. But yeah sometimes I spend like 20 minutes just trying to decide what to wear simply because there is more than one option. And I really have no clue what I want in life.

Yes.
I have great problems making decisions about food, and career/work potentials.

Analysis being over- or under- is dependant on context.
In a room of daffy NTs anything they can't grasp is 'over analysis'...and nothing is solved or truly understood by these people.

I haven't been diagnosed, but I'm fairly certain I've got AS and I also think way too much. I over-think to the point that simple decisions, like what to eat for dinner, can become quite difficult to make. Luckily I've found that marijuana helps with this tremendously. It's just too bad it's illegal and not acceptable at the office. The only legal prescription I've ever found to help is benzodiazepines, but there's no way I'd ever take those with any frequency. The cons greatly outweigh the pros with that class of drugs; for me at least. Also, I'd just like to point out that I'm in no way recommending the use of illegal substances to anybody. Marijuana has worked out for me, but for many others it actually causes them to over-think where they normally wouldn't and some might even have panic attacks. Remember, anecdotal evidence should be taken with many, many grains of salt and you probably shouldn't take any risks based on it.

That's pretty much me, too.

I barely talk about anything that matters to me to other people anymore. Because when I do, they roll their eyes and show their annoyance.

Well, I like to talk about interesting things, I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

I have to compensate a lot. Because I have no one to talk to. Not really. Tumblr and message boards only help occasionally.

Yes, over analyzing and having trouble making decisions is common among Aspies. Look up Executive Function Disorder (EFT). It is often comorbid with Asperger's. I believe I have it. Makes life messy and more difficult, as though it wasn't tough enough already.

Yes. As another person who suffers from Aspergers, I always spend time internalizing my thoughts and basically living inside my head. If someone accuses me of being rude, i can sometimes spend hours analyzing why someone might perceive my comment that way. :?

I tend to over think things to the point I will lose sleep over it like a math problem I will over work an algebra problem and get it incorrect due to the fact I was supposed to stop a long time ago.Reason why math is my weakness :?

Wait, executive dysfunction has its own separate diagnosis now? Or is that just a more professional name for ADHD?

I tend to live in my head and over-think everything. Making decisions is another problem for me too.

Yes, I can relate. I do this while in the car and it causes me major problems concentrating on driving. That's one example... Brain constantly goes and goes. I was looking at this sign earlier today on the back of a semi: "Over size load." Is it over-sized load, Over-size load...? Confusing. This was happening while driving; I cared more about the stupid sign being grammatically correct than why I was speeding up to read it.

This isn't just when driving, mind you; it's constantly. All the time. Even now I'm over-thinking things.

DECISION-MAKING... Please, don't get me started. I usually just stand in one place and look at all of my choices for about an hour to two hours if I really, really can't decide. This happened yesterday. I was at Walmart and went to the chocolate isle. Too many... I thought my head was going to explode. I had to look through them all for about twenty minutes. I ended up coming back two or three times to check again about what I wanted. I ended up buying several things because I couldn't choose just one.

I overthink everything. But I would rather overthink than underthink something
