The problem with myself is I let myself get conned by the pathological liars. They seem like nice friends, and make you feel obliged to help them. I can't believe I got conned by a sociopathic liar, and a pathological liar. (so eager to please just to get your trust). I just cut this guy off my life, but why is it that some autistic people don't see things coming???

Simple reason...we often can't read the physical clues that liars give and often have difficulty picking up on verbal clues that would give them away too.

After 20 years I still can't tell when my wife is either pissed at me or just being sarcastic in a humorous way. And usually get it wrong.

I think that's partly also the: "lack of social imagination" (or however they put it)

Because of this I've started just assuming the worst at all times. If somebody could be lying to me or trying to use me I just assume that's the case and go with it. I won't go so far as to do something to let them know that's how I feel; I just try to find a friendly way to say no.
