Are Aspies ever prescribed amphetamine for any reason? This includes Adderall, Dexedrine, etc. Years back I took that stuff as a study aid, but it always made me feel terrible.

I've never been prescribed it, but I can't say I've never had it....I personally like the effects, except the effects start to suck after 4 days of no sleep, so I do not advise that. It certainly helps get things done though.

I have ADHD as well as Aspergers.

I have only recently been prescribed medication for my ADHD.

Due to my underlying anxiety my Doctor has prescribed Strattera, a non-stimulant medication.

The dosage is being raised gradually and I am hoping that this will be effective in helping me manage my ADHD.

Despite having a fairly addictive personality, I seem to have an immunity, or at least a very high resistance to physical addiction, so I'm not concerned about the addictive risk of using stimulants.

However, I am taking prescription Lexapro for dysthymia (which is helping with my chronic low level anxiety) I also have prescription Valium for emergency/acute anxiety, so I think it is probably sensible to avoid medication that might worsen my anxiety.
