I still love to color. While the internet was down I went and got some more of the velvet posters and markers like I had to pass the time while I was staying with my mother. I have about a three inch stack of colored velvet posters now, with absolutely nothing to do with them.

I actually enjoyed it so much that I think I'm going to make it one of my leisure activities permenantly, like needlework and reading etc.

When I was in Wal Mart buying one of those big 44 poster pads and the set of 50 markers, the lady ringing me up smiled and said "You got a sick little one at home?" I said "Nooooo, our internet's down. This is for me." She just smiled like she didn't quite get how those two things went together. Thats ok though, I knew how they did.

At first I was worried that I might be embarrassed when my teenagers friends would walk through the room and see their friends mother on the couch coloring. Some of those kids they hang out with are in their mid twenties. Every single one of them said something along the lines of "Are you coloring? COOL! Lemme see! You got any more of those? Can I have one? Can I borrow some markers and just take them right back there? I'll bring them back before I go." Nobody thought it was wierd at all, or if they did it was a wierdness that they were happy to join in with.

So, who likes to color and what kind of things do you like to color? I like the velvet posters, obviously, and I also like coloring books with pretty detailed drawings. I like the Cinderella, Princess, Mermaid thing and also the fantasy unicorn, wizard, dragon thing. I don't like to color cars or spaceships or really even buildings unless it's a castle or a thatched roof cottage in the woods where the witch lives.

So, 'fess up ya'll. Who wants to share this brand new box of 96 Crayola's with me?

I have always loved to color but I haven't done it in a while, same as with puzzles. I prefer coloring books or coloring sheets. I even have crayons from my childhood and markers. I also love to paint pictures too and have a lilo and stitch painting book I bought when I was in high school. I also love those trace and color books. Even electronic coloring is great and I have some of those computer games on my computer with an emulator.

I never liked to color things I don't enjoy like Star Wars or any other things I am not interested in.

^^ Well you really should get back into it. It's so much more fun than you remember! You can go to Wal Mart and get a big pad of 44 velvet posters for $9.97 and a thing of 50 Crayola markers for $5 something. You really should go get you one of them or a coloring book that you like and try it again. If you get a coloring book, they now have a thing of 96 crayons. When I was a kid 64 was the most they made.

The only thing about the velvet posters is what to do with them after? I don't mind throwing out a coloring book when I'm done, but I have a huge stack of colored velvet posters now and my kids have as many as they want on their walls, so I'm stuck with them.

They do look really cool on my younger daughters walls though. Her room is black with purple trim. Too bad she doesn't have a black light.

Yes, I do visual journaling sometimes, and nothing relaxes me into the process like a crayon. It makes me feel less like I must produce something art-worthy, so I can just let go and express myself. Oil pastels are almost as good, but the smell of a crayon takes me back, and makes me feel as free as a child to express myself. :)

I always enjoyed to colour, and never cared who knew it. My first boyfriend (when I was 15-19) used to buy me colouring books to keep me entertained while he was busy doing IT stuff with his nerdy friends...I was interested in nerdy things, but colouring was a good alone activity I could concentrate on. I've not coloured in a while mind, but this post makes me want to get some velvet posters to colour.

My 18 yo daughter still wants a new coloring book, new box of crayons and her "big bear" stuffed bear that she's had since she was about 8, whenever she gets sick or has a test done or when she had her teeth pulled for her braces or her wisdom teeth. She doesn't care who knows about it either. When she's sick or not feeling well I am no longer "Mom" I am "Mommy".

My mom bought me a "Cars" movie watercolor by number set thing from the dollar store. I didn't finish it, but it was fun doing it, actually. I should color more.

I like to draw, but not in any creative way. I look at a picture and I copy it. That's pretty close to coloring. Identical, sometimes, because if I copy a cartoon, then that's exactly what I'm doing after I've got the lines down.

I would do it more if I could draw better. I am trying to teach myself to draw Animals and furries mainly, as I am a Furry..( I like anthropomorphic fiction, movies comics art etc). My 5 year old daughter is really good at those velvet posters now. So I do a bit of coloring with them.
Like you I don't really care who knows and if they don't like it Too Bad...

I really enjoy coloring! I haven't done it in a couple of months, but this topic makes me want to print out a couple of coloring pages, sharpen up my colored pencils and go to town! :D

I still love to color sometimes. I've retained many of my childhood enjoyments and interest. ( I"m 30 and I still watch old cartoons I grew up with, and pull out my Barbie from time to time) Since I work with young children, that's the perfect excuse to do and enjoy those activities.

NOTE: And actually, the old family-morally center cartoons are so much better then most of the junk they have on TV now.

I compulsively colour-in letters and boxes on junk mail. Other than that I like to colour-in geometric patterns and stuff and sometimes draw my own to do when I'm bored at work.

If you like to color designs, see if you can find something called mandalas. They are really pretty, complicated designs and we had gotten a book of them somewhere, years ago. It was called "Coloring Mandalas" and we all went nuts over that one. Google around and see what you think those mandalas.

*googles*

I love them! :) I'll even print some out at work tomorrow. I do have this book of pattern designs but the lines are greyscale which kinda ruins the fun :?

I ADORE coloring. My grandmother and I still color together on a regular basis. In fact, I'm going over to her house this weekend to color and watch Lucy. One "adult" type of coloring that I do is use colored pencils to color in my physiology coloring book and my anatomy coloring book. I learned about these books when I took biology in 10th grade, and I was hooked. The really exciting part is that each concept/organ/molecule/etc. is given a letter, and all related subcategories are given the same letter with a subscript number. And all subscripts of the same letter have to be colored the same shade, just a different hue. I LOVE color-coding, so this is really fun for me. The physiology coloring book is substantially more fun for me, because the pages are much more complex and take several hours to color.

I've always enjoye coloring much more than any other form of art, maybe because I'm good at it or because I get to decide which colors go where. I'm only good at drawing when I have a picture to look at. I've never been good at thinking of something to draw or being able to manifest what I see in my mind onto paper and that irritates me way too much.
