Lately when I wake up, I've been greeted with a sort of enhanced sensory state, where I can feel ABSOULUTELY everything, hear everything, see nothing because the sun is too bright..... I had a headache so bad I couldn't move for an hour when I woke up this morning, this is quite bad.
I've never suffered from this before, although I do have more light sensitivity than the average person. It's keeping me from doing anything for a good 2 hours when I wake up, at the minute I'm sat in my room, with thick curtains blocking out the sun and my laptop on the lowest brightness........ But in a few hours I'll be fine again, which is just weird.

Has anyone else suffered from anything like this before, and is there any way of reducing it faster/not getting it at all?

this happens to me sometimes indeed, usually when i have been in a noisy/bright situation shortly before sleeping (if i have been, i have worn ear defenders and/or sunglasses, waking up without them still has compensation up, increasing perception...)
the only thing i know of that reduces that state is a *hot* shower, forcing so much sensory input (touch from the water and heat) that i am forced to reduce sentitivity: the shock treatement

Thanks for your reply :)
Good to know I'm not the only one *phew* and I'll definitely try that next time I suffer from it. Thanks again

Pretty much every morning I wake up and the first 30-60 minutes are a horribly uncomfortable experience, especially when outside individuals start attacking me. I try to explain leave me alone for a little while, and occasionally they understand, but it's the same people every day. Why can't they get it through their NT heads that I need a bit to destress before the day actually starts.

Yea I get this most mornings. For the first half hour or so the faintest light is like staring at the sun, the smallest whisper like a deafening explosion, and the lightest touch like being stabbed. Its gotten better in the last year or so though, to the point where I no longer have to sit in a darkened room for the first 20 minutes or so. Once this passes though I'm fine in my senses, except for bright lights. The other stuff is only in the morning.

Oh yes.
Before noon - everything is far more intense.

I need to stop scheduling morning classes, because I tend to rock in them and by the end of the semester, NO ONE is sitting by me.

Our school also has worship services twice a week in the mornings. we are required to attend. My sensitivity is so much worse; I hate them. The service is incredibly loud, with "sudden" music and heavy bass.

People don't get why I act so funny during that.
I wonder if my psychologist could get me exempted from having to attend those if it makes me have a meltdown...

I noticed that I can't eat in the morning because it nauseates me to no end... I also don't like smells of any kind at that time of the day.

My anxiety is through the roof first thing in the morning. Meditation and diet are the only things I've found that make it better. (Weed helps a TON but it's not an option during the work week.)
