Can anyone recommend other forums for family members?

I've been trying to talk to my mom recently about my Asperger's, and she's not handling it too terribly, although I wouldn't exactly call her supportive by any means. She's interested in talking to other people with AS and their family members, but I don't really want her to come to WP because I want to be free to talk about my problems without her possibly reading everything I say. To that end, are there any other fairly active, friendly forums to which I can direct her? (I'd especially like her to find somewhere where she can see casual discussions with other Aspies, not just fixate on medical issues and "how to train your Aspie" type of #$@%.)

Sorry I don't have info on other sites, but I do know how you feel. I am in my 50s, but I won't share my site name with the family. So far only my older sister knows about my Asperger's, but she figured it out on her own after coming across info on it. She does know about this site, but not my site name. I need a place to post and vent, including about family matters. I don't give out family names or addresses, including my own, so that keeps their and my privacy protected. At the same time, I do sometimes need to discuss stuff that might upset them, so I am keeping my site name off the family radar. I may eventually tell the others about my Asperger's, but I have not decided yet.

If your mom doesn't know your site name, it should be okay to let her know about this site. It can be very helpful to her. Also, you can always check for other sites yourself by doing a search for them.

Anyhow, glad you like WP! I certainly do! :D

Yeah, unfortunately I was a little naive, I suppose, in that I made my site name here the same username I use all over the place, and which everyone I know recognizes *grimace* One of those little life lessons, I suppose :)

I was wondering this too, I almost let it slip out; in an attempt at small talk I started to tell my mom I didn't realize I collect so much stuff after until after reading a thread. She asked where I found that out and I said the forum I found. I wanted to let her know in some way that I am addressing my being born different but immediately I thought I should NOT let the name out for my newfound sanctuary. I've come to cherish everyone here in the short time I've been here (not forming attachments too quickly am I?) and it scares me to think how I badly I could have screwed things up if I would have revealed my refuge
