Does anyone have any tips on how I can get evaluated for Asperger's in Los Angeles, CA? I have all the symptoms, especially the neurological variety. I just found out that I have an enlarged brain ventricle, after being taken to the hospital for a bad migraine. I am sure the doctor thought that I was schizo when he saw my CT scan. Has anyone ever been through anything like that before?

The only place I know of in Los Angeles that does adult assessments is the the autism clinic at the UCLA Semel Institute.

An evaluation costs $4,400 and I do believe it's designed to rule out schizophrenia spectrum disorders. If you find anyone else in the L.A. area qualified and willing to assess adults, it's advisable that you post that information here for others.

While enlarged ventricles are associated with schizophrenia, they are not exclusively so and so large ventricles alone aren't exclusively indicative of schizophrenia. If you have migraines and an enlarged ventricle, I'd ask the doctor about the possibility of having a Charcot-Marie-Tooth malformation.

I don't know if it'll help more than what Chronos said, but there is an organization called AGUA (it's been some years, though) in LA run by Jerry Newport. Maybe they/he has a list or something.

I know nothing about this organization other than what is listed on their website, but F.A.C.T. states that they offer adult Asperger's evaluations and therapy. This site won't allow me to list their website, but the following is their contact information.

FACT Administrative Offices: 1637 Malcolm Ave. Suite 2 | Los Angeles, CA 90024 | Phone (310) 475-9620 | Fax (310) 470-3169
FACT Clinic: 10642 Santa Monica Blvd. Suite 201 | Los Angeles, CA 90025 | Phone (310) 470-9016

I'd be greatly interested in something closer to North OC/ LA county, don't really feel like going out to Irvine all that much
