Am I really lazy or is it because of routine?

I always hate putting things away. Once I'm in my bedroom, my mind is in routine. It makes it harder for me to do anything that isn't part of that. But my parents always call me lazy because I don't learn to put things away like groceries or because I don't help them.

It's not that i don't want to or I choose not to but if I'm not in routine then I get really bad anxiety and that's how my outbursts erupt. I really hate being out of routine and new changes that come into my routine. My anxiety can get really bad when it comes to routine being changed or not being able to do my own routines but my parents don't get that.

Does this happen to you? Not just with parents or a guardian but anyone i mean... even with friends. I just want to know I'm not the only one being called lazy because of how my mind and routine works...

Did you add any more chapters to your brother-sister autism short story?

What's the name of the website where you posted your short story? BTW, I started writing a short story last month because of you. Cool, huh? I should be finished with it in about a month and then I'll post it online.

uhhh... not yet? My stylus broke so... I'm getting a new one in the mail called a Pogo Stylus Pro. I haven't been doing a lot of writing. x_x

But I don't know what that has to do with my OP. O_o

It's the routine. You get focused on what you are doing and anything else falls by the wayside. It gets very hard, and very unsettling to change course out of whatever you are focused on, to go clean, put away, etc. I speak from over 50 years of experience. I also have Executive Function Disorder, so my place is a disorganized mess. :( My dream goal is to turn it into an organized mess.

I have similar issues - but mine are more because of intense special interests. If I'm not doing special interest stuff, it's easy for me to get ridiculously bored with what I'm doing - I have problems focusing and all that as well, if it's not something that interests me.

Also, if I get disrupted while doing special interest stuff, it's incredibly annoying and jarring. Everything just feels like it got derailed when it happens.

I'll go to greater lengths to systemize my special interest stuff, it can be very expensive buying the same thing twice from not being able to find the first one. If it helps, try and see if portraying one of your written characters around your famiily makes them feel you're contributing more, either way you can tell them you're not exactly yourself these days!
