Of preventing overstimulation.

I'm Jewish, but I'm not orthodox or married, so this isn't wholly a religious thing, but covering my head with a scarf or a hat REALLY calms me and helps me to focus...I feel less overstimulate-able than normal.

I might continue with this.

How about y'all? Does something on your head help?

Yes, I like to wear a baseball cap or other hat when I leave the house.

I have my motorcycle helmetjavascript:emoticon('8)')
Although it tends to frighten small children and animals. I do love it for popping in at convenience stores but impractical for the places I do need it, such as wherever 3 or more other people at a time are shopping

I'm wearing baseball caps and hoods, preferably together, and have one scarf sewn for about 11 inches at its backside (folded lengthwise and sewn from the kink) i often wear at home. Have this fondness for my whole life and feel sort of unprotected without headgear. Hoods are for me what blinkers are for horses. Not uncommon for people with ASD as you can see here

Neat!
Although, I like something tight around my head, but not too tight. Snug. Hoods generally fall off.

I've never really felt right wearing a hat. Every now and then I'll put one on just for the hell of it, or like when I used to play airsoft, I'd always be wearing a boonie hat as part of my "outfit," but beyond that, I really don't like wearing hats at all.

Yep, I wear my fleece winter hat whenever I go out, even in summer because I like how it fits snugly around my ears and lets me put a barrier between me and the auditory world. I sometimes think it would be really neat to have real selective deafness where I could just turn it on when I wanted total silence then back off again to hear.

For a few years I've dreamed of being able to wear one of those that cover the whole head and face except the eyes. Or at least, if I was married, I could wear a scarf around my head. But not to prevent overstimulation, but to have a shield from humans.

I don't tend to wear hoodies because I like being cold. I like them, though. Pulling on it so it's tight on my shoulders helps to relax me, and the hood helps me avoid people.
