Did martial arts ever help you to cope with your symptoms (blow off steam, avoid meltdowns, learn basic social skills) whether or not you knew you had Asperger's at the time? Or if you're not involved in MA, do you think it would be positive or not?

I'm thinking about getting back into the martial arts after a prolonged absence only to help me with some of my symptoms, and I was just curious what others thought.

I can safely say that I am a completely different person after 6 years of martial arts than I was before. It made a profound difference in my life, and I found myself around people who loved martial arts as much as I did, which made it to socialize with the people there. Also, it helped a lot with anger, because I know that now I can really hurt someone if I were to get really angry, so I have to control it. And it also has helped me in interacting with others. I would recommend that everyone take martial arts for at least a year honestly.

I liked it due to the fact that people weren't social there. You weren't thought odd just by focusing on what's at hand.

(I've done so many over the years. From Karate to Kung Fu.)

Absolutely improved my life, best years of my life really. (4 years of Tang Soo Do and Hapkido when I was 19-23 years old, I'm 35 now.)
