So I have an interest in mostly all the sciences, except physics. I sometimes research the topic that I want to know more about, but I find myself frequently just thinking about my interests way more than actually researching them.

My question to the rest of you is:

Do you tend to think more about your interests, or do more reading on them? Do you have limits, or keep reading?

P.S Sorry if the question doesn't make sense, I am horrible at asking question (so please work with me here people!).

My primary interest is music, and for the most part I do more -doing- my special interest, meaning performing and creating music, than I do reading about it and all that. Although I do read about it a lot anyway.

I can't imagine having an interest in some of the sciences, let alone most, and not be interested in physics. You pretty much need to know the basics of physics for the rest to make sense. You could probably ignore quantum physics which is madness in my opinion, and just focus on classical.

Sorry, rambling. I guess you can tell what my main interest is.

I do a mixture of thinking, reading and writing about my interest. I probably do more thinking because of having to come up with ideas to do my writing. I would write between 3-5 days, sometimes more in 2-4 hour intervals. Research is very important too but that's only a couple of hours on the days I'm not writing or reading. My whole life experience could be considered research though.

I'm a writer and a musician. I already did my homework regarding format, structure and theory - if that's what you mean.

I primarily research and read about my interests on the Internet mostly. Sometimes I'll read about them in books from the library or the bookstore.

I like to purchase books on my special interests when I have the money. I also read up on my interests on the Internet, as well.

Numbers, obsessed with them. Read, think, do.. meh all the same to me. Nice thing about numbers is you don't need anything external, all in your head, so you can take them and play with them anywhere and anytime.

Paleoanthropology and researching my family geneology. If I get interested in something I can't think about anything else.
If I run out of information on the subject I keep searching until I find more.
I am also interested in art and science and I love listening to Carl Sagan talk on netflix documentaries.

I have multiple interests that sometimes grow more intense than others. So I don't really research them, I waste all my time getting into them, being bored, and moving on to whatever else catches my attention.

I primarily engage in my special interests by thinking about them. Since my special interests have more or less always revolved around fictional characters, I like to use my incredibly active imagination to daydream about my favorite characters in different scenarios, especially what it would be like if they were my friends (hence why I frequently refer to them as my "imaginary friends").

I do enjoy researching my special interests, but research always takes a backseat to imagination.

I mostly read about them online or read posts about them or I just sit back and listen to music that is related to my interests. I also think about them. It was worse as a kid because they get so intense in my head, they would drive me crazy and I couldn't stop them. We had no internet then, not anymore so I couldn't just soothe them and calm down. All I had was my movie and book and mom kept taking them from me and limiting them. I remember I just started to write about it and mom took it from me so I started a new one. Just as long as I have internet, I am okay and they won't get as intense. I even have interests that take over my other interests so it keeps me away from the other.

Same here but I do most data acquisition on the internet, Stopped buying books because of the cost of maintaining a personal library to keep up was becoming impractical and I have a better collection than the local library so stopped going for any thing other than old reference books and inter library exchange.

My current obsession is bus-drivers, can't read up much about the ones I'm obsessed with but can have fun getting on the buses that they drive. Trouble is, I let it take over my life - I'm looking for a job to fit around getting this one particular bus where the best ones usually drive. I'm sorry, it's just the way I am.
