For some time, I thought that the experience of being in automatic mode was an autistic feature. But in fact, consciousness is a small part of the mind.

It is true that most people feels that they are in control of themselves, that they make conscious choices, etc. But this is an illusion. In reality, our unconscious mind proposes us choices, thoughts, etc. and our conscious mind only validates or refuse.

So, about the automatic mode, I would say that autistic people just realize what everybody lives. Most people are not aware that the mind is mostly inconscious.

Note that the inconscious mind is not really a part of the brain, it is the way it works. Consciousness is only an exception. The world we see, is an unconsciously generated dreamworld, based on our perception and our memories. Very little of our observation and of our action is consciously generated.

So there is nothing wrong with this.

By the way, uncousciousness is not synonym of lack of information. You don't have to be conscious to process information, for example about the road you are walking. You only have to pay attention.
