Meltdown before camp?
I just found out tonight that I am going to a beach camp for 1 week with my step sister who is one of my best friends. My mom told me to go upstairs and back my bags. So I went upstairs and started to pack. My room got out of order because I had to take out my clothes so I could pack them, and that kind of upset me. Then my younger sister came in my room to help me pack. I didnt mind but then she started moving things in my room, so I told my mom that I couldnt pack because it wasnt working. I couldnt describe my problems better then that it "wasnt working". My mom finally came and helped me pack, which made me feel so much better.
When I went back down stairs I was a bit upset because my mom said I couldnt bring my toy stuffed tiger. I wanted to bring him because hes heavy and it feels good to hold him. I sat on the floor thinking about sleeping some where else and every thing changing. I thought about being around people all day long. That made me even more upset so I started slightly and almost unnoticably rocking on the floor. Then I started crying. When my mom asked what was wrong all I could say was "I dont know". I became very quiet and I spaced out and started at the floor crying and slightly rocking for a while. I felt freaked out, I dont know how to descride it. Could this have been a meltdown or something else?
idk if that was a meltdown, but a few weeks ago I was in the same situation as you and so I started a thread asking for advice and here's what I got:
- bring a activity to do like reading or drawing so you have an excuse to be alone.
- sign up for an activity with less people if you don't like crowds.
-ask to be in the same cabin/tent with your friends so you don't have to make new ones
I hope I helped
