I know that aspies tend to have a awkward gait, but how do you hold yourself as you walk? I curl my arms up to my chest and squeeze my fingers. I also walk on my toes if I'm happy or stressed. I don't notice it, but my friends say I always look down. My dad teases me sometimes and sais it looks like I was 'beaten' as a kid cuz I look down and kinda curl up. (I know beating people isn't a funny thing and that's not intended to offend any one, so I'm sorry if I did)

I tend to look down when I walk, and I walk quickly. My arms don't swing very much. I curl my hands slightly, though I tend to put them in my pockets or hold onto my backpack straps. I walk with my toes pointed slightly outward; I usually walk flat-footed, though I'll occasionally catch myself walking on my toes.

I had the joys of walking lessons and etiquette lessons - the latter included sticks hit off the back of my legs. I thus walk with good posture about 90% of the time, but I can lose my balance and not walk in a straight line if I look up or get distracted with sensory issues.

Ah yes...I run into walls if I get distracted. :P

I was picked on for walking "weirdly" as a teenager and watched myself in mirrors to try and figure out why. As far as I could see, I take small steps and don't swing my arms enough.

I look down (or around frantically because of so much to see), have a kinda bounce in my step, and hold my shirt with the ends of my fingers. If not, I have no where else to put them. Sometimes I walk without moving my arms.

I tend to walk very fast - much faster than most people walk - so that I get to my destination faster. My walk is pretty weird, especially if I slow it down - my stride length often changes between steps, I keep my arms and hands in weird places because I don't know what to do with them, I tend to walk on the sides of my feet when going slower, or my toes. I also look around a lot, stim while walking, etc.

I'm also always doing things with my hands when I'm in public to reduce the number of stims I do, which can look really weird. Lots of hand flapping type stuff. I get asked a lot "why do you do that?" etc.

vertically. I find holding myself horizontally to be far too challenging.

In all seriousness I tend to look at the ground. I am much better about it than when I was younger, but it is still my default. There are all of these pictures of we with my kids at the zoo and yeah, I'm looking at the ground or at the kids in every picture.

I have a bounce in my step. It is more pronounced since losing weight and getting in shape.

Otherwise I stand up VERY straight since I'm short statured, every inch counts.

I walk with one hand either in a pocket or holding something across my chest.
Otherwise I can't really balance out that well, and I feel funny while I walk. You'd think somebody that used to snowboard would be better with that.

I'm always thankful for winter, when it's heavy coat season. I can then fit my hands in my pockets, otherwise if I don't have a pocketed coat on, my arms are up and wrists are bent, fingers curled and held up by my chest like a rabbit. I've been doing it since I was a kid which makes me feel safe in a way, when I go out.
I also do it at home, but walk slower and on tip toes. Especially when I'm excited/ anxious about something.

Usually when I'm out, and stressed (because being out is stressful P: ) and my hands are up, I have this annoying tic I do where I flap my arms like a chicken, or at least like someone imitating a chicken. I do it really hard and fast and usually several times in a row.

If I knew what was exactly wrong with my walking I would have fixed it already. I had an awkward gait that used to be an awkwarder gait, and now I just walk a bit too erect. I remember someone commented once I walked like ai was modeling though, that made me feel good :D

I'm very self-conscious about my gait, and I suspect the way I hold myself because of it could best be described as "having a stick up my ass." :D I know it's different but I'm not exactly sure how. I should record myself one day and find out what's different about the way I walk.

I have developed a very strong, commanding gait for public arenas. I walk a bit like a terminator does in the movies.

Once I got asked "why do you walk as if you had a metal bar on your back?" She probably would have used a more colorfoul expression if it didn't sound rude instead of funny in Spanish.
