I usually make a social error nearly every day. Today I made a small one but it was enough to make me wish I hadn't. I was standing in the bus stop with my mum and a woman came past, and my mum said hello to her. I asked, ''who's that?'' in quite a loud, snappy tone, because I get fed up with people say hello to someone else and not me (unless they know them, which my mum said she did). But before she said she knew her, she said, ''you shouldn't of said that loudly, why didn't you wait until she had gone across the road?'' I felt bad after that, but couldn't admit it for some reason, so I got kind of angry, especially when my mum started exaggerating and said she was ''right there'' when I had asked ''who's that?'' - when she actually wasn't, she was actually gone right past, but my mum often exaggerates like that because she seems to like making the situation bigger than what it is but can't seem to admit that she does.

Did you make any social errors today? Use this thread to report any social errors you have made today. It's interesting to know that I'm not alone. (I know everybody makes social mistakes but obviously Aspies are more frequent).

I didn't make any social errors today, I spent all of my day at home wearing my pajamas and reading things in Internet :D.

Uh, if we unite wouldn't we no longer be hermits?

I tried to express empathy to a person at church whose dad is sick and it ended up being awkward (according to my friend nearby).

I interrupted my roommate who was in a conversation with another person to say goodbye to her, later told I should have stood there and waited till they were done talking to each other.

This has been a not great day so far, but there is still hope for the afternoon.

I probably wouldn't call that a faux pas, maybe just insecurity if they weren't really that well acquainted.
Most 'faux pas' are a result of people who actively choose to be unreasonable, or will actively put you in a difficult situation to gauge your response.

I probably did one yesterday about overextending a stay at someone's place, but it's hard to judge when they are a lover.

After sitting with a group of people, as they finished with a discussion, someone extended their hand to me and I kept walking toward the door and left. I figured out what had happened as I was leaving out the door.
I still sometimes don't comprehend friendly gestures, but I'm getting better at catching myself.

Except we are very acquainted (I think?) as we have attended the same Wednesday night small group for the past year and a half.

I didn't know how else to word the sentence, I think ''social mistakes'' sounds so boring.

Wasn't too concerned with the technical definition of the term, more the thought that situations as highlighted should not have been a significant ordeal. :)

Oh, I see what you mean now. I am over it now but I just felt angry with myself because I hope the woman didn't hear me say that. It's not what I actually said, it's how I said it, and she might have heard and took it offensively.

Haven't been out much lately but last week there were two people I knew sitting behind me. I said "hello Cynthia" ( not her real name) and then seeing the other, "Hi" because I had temporarily forgotten his name. Added it just 1/2 second later but could see it hurt his feelings, and my reflexes weren't fast enough to apologise within the appropriate time.

I haven't done anything today because I've just been on the computer all day.

Oh wait.. my dad called and he was joking with me but it frustrated me so I kind of snapped at him and said bye so I could get off of the phone.

Also, I have band practice later, so I'll definitely do something wrong then..
