I was diagnosed when I was 8 with ADHD, and more recently suspected Asperger's Syndrome,

I was diagnosed by the Learning Assessment and Neurocare Centre in Horsham, because we couldn't wait to get the diagnosis so that I could get help. However, the cost of the sessions every year is something I would like to avoid.

What I would like to do is change to the NHS, so that I can keep being prescribed my medication without the costly sessions with the private specialists.

I am currently being prescribed Concerta XL 2X 18mg and 2X 27mg per day and also Fluoxetine 2.5ml per day

I was wondering if anyone had any experience in this or how I would go about it, or if it is even possible to do.

All the best

Daniel

I'd suggest just going to see your GP initially and they can make any necessary referrals.

Have you spoken to your GP about your diagnosis and your prescriptions? Maybe he/she would be willing to prescribe them, without referring you to a specialist. When I've received a prescription from a hospital doctor, it has actually been just a letter which I needed to give to my GP. He has then written the official script, to be handed to the chemist. So, I'm thinking the process might be straight forward.

Your specialist should be able to write to your GP giving details of what you're on and why. Your GP should then be able to take over.

Some GP's are a bit funny about taking over from private people. They may demand you get re-assessed, and some even refuse to take over private treatment, however they are obliged to take over your treatment.

Try asking your specialist for a referral to the NHS? My GP's referral wasn't working so my private therapist contacted an NHS psychiatrist when I needed a re-assessment, and then the psychiatrist referred me to an NHS therapist.
