Aspie perspective on NT friends vs. Aspie friends
I had 2 close friends when I was younger. One was an NT and the other was an Aspie. I had a lot of good times with both of them.
I did a lot of fun things with the NT friend, but he was a lot more social than I was. He didn't seem to understand my lack of social skills and constantly messed around with me, which was kind of annoying but he had no negative intent so I wasn't really mad at him. I felt that he was a good friend despite that I couldn't relate to him in a lot of ways.
I also did a lot of fun things with the Aspie friend. Like me, he also didn't have very good social skills. He wasn't just a friend to me, he was also a comrade because we were united by the things we had in common and by the ways we felt oppressed by the NT world.
How do the experiences of other people on this forum compare to my experiences with NT friends and Aspie friends?
I'm in the 8th grade, and I have maybe 3-4 friends IRL. None of them are Aspies, but they all completely understand me, and relate to me. They are great friends and I think it is awesome that I am able to have them as friends. I'm just glad that they all understand me, and I think they like me pretty well, considering I was invited to like 4 peoples houses this weekend F**k social skills, right?
