It doesn't take much for me to get really mad. I'm not allowed to throw things or yell or any thing so alot of times when Im mad I cry. I am behind in my school work so I was working on some of it today and I was reading and I had to read it over and over until it made sense and that started to make me mad. Also I kept getting the answers to the questions wrong and nothing was working the right way. I got really mad and I just sat there and cried. I do it almost every time I get mad. Is that normal or people in general? Or maybe normal for Aspies? Do you do that?

:x =

I'm sorry that you are mad a lot.

Yes, I often cry when I get mad too. I will feel angry and frustrated and then I will feel helpless because I'm so mad I can't speak and I'm supposed to be a grown up, so I also am not allowed to punch people or throw things (much to my disappointment). Then I'm so overwhelmed and mad that it has to scream or punch it's way out somehow, so, yeah, I will cry.

Yeah, anger goes straight to tears for me as well. When I'm really mad, I want to be able to shout at someone or do something. Instead I just cry, and I wind up feeling weak and powerless when what I want is strength. I hate it.

I talk to myself whenever I'm angry. It keeps me from taking it out on someone else.

oh boy - this is a biggie for me. If I am truly angry I bawl my eyes out. I have discussed this at length with my boyfriend... I find it baffling and a bit annoying. Totally sending the wrong message of what I am feeling.... yet I can't seem to stop it.

same here. I don't communicate anger well at all. Close family and friends - people I care about enough to go to the effort - usually receive multi-page epistles if I feel I really need to communicate. The rest of the world usually just isn't permitted to see the waterworks -- I hide if I can't control it.

I do this too, it's embarrassing and frustrating especially when you want to look strong.

I'm more likely to cry from anger than from any other emotion. It's a completely overwhelming emotion and I don't cope with it very well.

I do not do this. I laugh hysterically when I'm really mad, I have a big grin on my face. So, no one takes me seriously when I'm angry, which makes me angrier.

I do not get angry often thankfully.

Um, sorry, but I think laughing hysterically would be kinda fun.
I would be laughing ALL THE TIME!
Hmm... though that would probably get me committed to an inpatient facility.

(Seriously though, I understand literal hysterical laughter is not pleasant.)
I smile when I am uncomfortable and talking about painful subjects.
This leads people to think I have improper emotions about things.
Bleh. I'm not smiling because I feel happy, I'm smiling because I feel awkward. Think harder psedo-psych-idiot-people who draw such conclusions!

Ugh.. I laugh or grin like an idiot when feeling strong guilt or when being recriminated. I can't stop it and it got me in so much trouble as a child. Parents would tell me off and I was just grinning and giggling.

Me too, but I have got better because I've had loads of practice with my mum's arrogant bf. Over time I have gradually got better at preventing myself from crying when arguing in defense of myself, but not always.

yeah, when I was a kid I cried a lot.

I still do when really angry, since it overwhelms me like a lot of other people. But, it's also like a short step away from me being physically violent, if a person is involved.
I don't throw things or have tantrums over stress anymore though.

I've gotten really good at bottling it up, which is probably not good. So, you should probably just cry and get it out to be healthy.

When I'm angry I typically fume quietly to myself, and sometimes make up long rants in my head. What makes me cry is frustration, and it doesn't happen very often. Just, when I'm rushed and I need to do something but it's not working out and I feel helpless to make things better. Last time it happened was 2-3 years ago during an organic chem lab that went horribly wrong, on top of a bad day in general. I think I freaked out my lab teacher a bit. It's not a nice feeling, anyway :(

Yeah, I'll sometimes cry when I get really angry. Sometimes I'll just stand in place and fume as tears well up in my eyes. I was really sensitive when I was a kid, and I still tend to overreact when I get upset.
