Where do I start?

I believe I may have Asperger Syndrome. I have been searching through the forum trying to find posts on the diagnosing process and couldn't find very much. Can you please tell me what the typical process is? Who do I go to first? Our health insurance (it is PPO) is starting in December and will have to find a new family doctor. Do I have to go to family doc first, then if they say that I am "likely asperger", they will tell who I need to see next? Is that right? I know that it is a long process. Where do I start?

Next thing you do is consult a psychologist (not psychiatrist)

From here you can locate your local chapter of the Autism Society of America. Give them a call and they can give you the names of doctors in your area who are experienced in diagnosing autistic disorders.
