I would put "anxiety" in quotes, because I don't really think it is anxiety, per se. More my brain interpreting physiological data as "anxiety."

This happens to me periodically. I feel anxious and nervous for no reason. It used to almost drive me to the edge, but over time I have learned to just try to ignore it or view it from a completely rational point of view. I rationally know I am not anxious. Whatever is happening in my body is not anxiety. It's something else. And so I just try to go about my business.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Yes, I get this way periodically. I have no idea why. And it's weird, because I when it happens, I'm not worried about anything. I'm starting to think it's sensory overload or something.

I suspect it is atypical wiring. Like something haywire in the sympathetic nervous system.

Because I am sitting here right now feeling as nervous as can be and there is no reason and my day was actually pretty laid back compared to most days.

So I think something is misfiring.

I have been feeling this way all week. it is so upsetting, not to be able to put my finger on WHY. I checked my cycle, I checked the full moon - neither are contributors. Makes me feel crazy. Hate it.

Yes, I find that I often sigh as a result of this and sometimes rub my hands as well.

At times, yes.

Yes. I was a tortured soul for about 6 months when I had a breakdown. My main symptom was anxiety. Every living moment was absolute fear. I was scared of life itself. And it all had no apparent cause. It just happened because I had gotten a bit ill. I would have what felt like hundreds of panic attacks a day. I also, for 24 hours a day, had that rush of adrenaline you get say when you nearly slip on the stairs. It was hell.
I think I've beaten my anxiety, besides hypochondria. Or maybe I haven't. I think in the end I didn't beat it, I just kind of burnt out. I'm also having a hypochondriacs worst nightmare at the moment as I'm having screening for cancer - but because I burnt out of anxiety when I had a breakdown I actually don't feel as scared as I should be.

so yeah anyway, long story short, I do get where you are coming from. You're not alone! I hope it's not as severe as it affected me and I hope you are okay :) If it becomes a problem where it starts to hinder your life in anyway, you should nip it in the bud and see your doctor.

Yes, I used to get this really bad a few years ago. It got so bad some days I couldn't eat or sleep, which just made it worse. It lessened a lot after a therapist told me to breathe and calmly say to myself, "I'm OK, everything's good" over and over until the anxiety and horrible feelings started to go away.

It's a very scary feeling to have. But now I know it's usually my mind interpreting things wrongly and my body picking up wrong signals. Knowing this helps me control it.

Yes, this is horrible.

I experience something similar to the OP, however I think mine does have an underlying cause, sometimes it's just not clear.

Well yeah but its not exactly for 'no' reason, I do have anxiety......but sometimes it can hit me even if nothing specific made me anxious.

I've experienced something that seems similar, but maybe it's actually something else entirely...

There were times when I suddenly felt anxiety, as if out of no where. If I took a moment to think about it, I'd realize that I had thought of some specific thing or word, maybe even in a positive/happy way. This word, however, was "linked" or associated with a bad memory from a year or two ago (or just yesterday). And so, even though I wasn't completely aware of it at some level, the bad memory still came to mind.

But also, sickness (otherwise undetectable) and little things like getting to bed late can give me anxiety.
