WHY does even my dysfunctionality have to be in the minority

So I'm reading about dysfunctional families' characteristics online... just behavioural traits they might have... and they're constantly referred to as alcoholics...

I mean, I understand how having alcoholics as parents will be a very bad experience (here's a f**k you to society for favouring alcohol!) - and that, indeed, this must be the majority of dysfunctional families... but, if there's one universal quality my life seems to have it would be uniqueness (but only with how screwed up I am). Mine weren't alcoholics, but still majorly dysfunctional... they just smoked tobacco (and "f**k you" to whoever prejudices against cannabis... if they smoked that I probably wouldn't have had 1/18th of the problems there). Mind you, if they were alcoholics and I would have grown up to blame alcohol mostly, and then knowing how accepting 'Western' society is of alcohol and all its inevitable violence, even though it demonizes psychedelics, which are mostly agents of peace per se, I'd be much more frustrated (but hey, at least I blame them, not just some substance).

My family was very dysfunctional and abusive, but looked NOTHING like the stereotypical dysfunctional family. I never realized anything was weird until I got away from them and saw other people's families. In retrospect I wish I would have known so I could have turned myself into social services.

I'm curious, did that include the Cracked article on the 5 signs someone survived a dysfunctional family? 3, and 4 in my case.

Mine was fairly dysfunctional too. Pot was the only abused substance. That can cause as much trouble as alcohol.

Yep, was reading Cracked! So, are you responsible or irresponsible? And I'm curious as to what cannabis can possibly do that rivals the effect of alcohol. I mean, presumably, the worst that can happen is constantly having no food in the fridge... but then I doubt they'd leave it empty until the next time!
