not sure were this should go?
I received this in an email and thought any of you in UK with noise issues would like to be warned:

Quote:
All the Bells - Wake up the Nation!

All around the UK, people will be gathering and ringing their bells to help celebrate the first day of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

At 8.12 am people across the country will be ringing bells to perform Martin Creed’s Work No. 1197. All the bells in a country rung as loudly as possible for three minutes, a piece specially commissioned as part of the London 2012 Festival.

Thanks for the warning.

Not looking forward to this. Would have preferred if it was on the Saturday; as I shall be in a field camping somewhere, miles away from everything.

Oh I love the sound of those types of bells! It's such a beautiful sound, reminds me a Christmassy sound. It's just the electric bells you get on the wall in schools that scare the s**t out of me.

For twenty years my bedroom was situated no more than twelve yards from a huge church bell.

This bell was attached externally to the front of the building with my bedroom window overlooking it.

This damn bell rang every sunday morning at 8am, 100 times! Needless to say this was super-loud and seemed to go on forever. After a while the noise just becomes one long horrible drone.

The point I'm trying to make is that by comparison this Olympic thing should be a breeze.

At that time on a Sunday I would normally be woken up by church bells anyway.
