lately, I have been feeling hungry, but I don't feel like eating. I only eat breakfast. But im not insecure about my body image so I'm not doing this on perpose. Like just now, I was hungry for dinner and I asked my mom what she was going to make and she said pizza. So we sat down and started eating but suddenly I had no apetite, although I was still hungry.

is there such thing as involuntary anorexia?or something else?

Have yourself checked out by a gastric doc. One thing you might want to consider is parasites. Having too many of those can leave you with not enough room inside, but still feeling hungry, because you aren't able to eat enough for yourself, much less for them too.

Are you stressed or anxious? I have had that problem before where I clearly felt hungry but just... dunno... felt weird so didn't eat. I think it was stress.

Also, are you on any medications - this can be a side effect, one that isn't constant too.

"Anorexia" is a medical term for "loss of appetite", which is a symptom of practically everything (or of nothing in particular). "Anorexia nervosa" is a psychological/physical disorder in which a person eats too little and loses too much weight, usually because of body-image-related problems.

So technically you have "anorexia", but it's not an eating disorder. For some reason, like you said, you just lost your appetite. Happens to me when I'm preoccupied or when it's hot outside. I'm hungry, but I just don't feel like eating. And I'm overweight, so it doesn't just happen to skinny people.

Cause could be as minor as the summer heat or unusual stress levels; could be a sign of illness of some sort.

If you're not eating too much less than your body needs, then you probably don't need to worry too much. You could lose a pound or two before it straightens itself out, but that doesn't hurt anybody who's not already underweight. This is on the assumption that you've lost your appetite because of stress or heat or a lower activity level than usual.

If you *are* already underweight, or if you're eating much too little, or if you're weak or constantly tired, though, you should see a doctor. Same for if this keeps on going.

If you're too preoccupied to eat, better time-management may help.

Make sure you stay hydrated, and take vitamins. There are also nutrition supplement type drinks which you can buy at the supermarket in most places; they are usually a lot like milkshakes, and have essential nutrients and some extra calories in them. They are good to drink if you have lost your appetite for some reason, to add some extra calories to your diet without having to eat a lot of solid food.

No you don't have an eating disorder. You're just put off food for a while for some reason. Give it a couple of weeks, as I occasionally go through the same thing and feel fine after about a week, otherwise see a doctor.

It doesn't sound like an eating disorder, but could be linked to something else, like stress or a bug. Maybe you could go get some blood tests done? Your doctor would be much better equipped than anyone here.

I really hope you start feeling better soon. I have a similar problem but I also have a fear of choking while eating so I am sure they are two different things.

Could be a number of things. If you begin to loose weight (>5lbs.) then their is reasons for concern. If not, I wouldn't be to concerned. Could just be a phase... There are to many variables here but if you truly are secure about your body image then it is not likely anorexia.

No, and no.

Maybe you're tired. Maybe you don't like other meals. Maybe you forget to eat. Maybe you're bored or have other plans and don't want to sit there and eat. Maybe you don't like the food available to you. If you're hungry, eat.... it's not going to leap into your mouth. You have to force yourself. Schedule meals, and eat it. You manage to eat breakfast, so you can do the same during other meals. Take dinner and watch TV or whatever so it's not boring.

And, get checked by a GP. Perhaps you have some condition making you not hungry, nauseous, etc.
