Is it extremely uncommon for aspies to use drugs/alcohol?

Anyone find their obsessive tendencies focusing on these things?

Cigarette smoking I find to be very calming of my nerves.

I am unsure of averages however...

Both my boyfriend an myself are Aspies...I am 22 and he is 25. Neither of us has ever done any drugs, smoked a cigarette, or had alcohol.

My brother is a drug addict and my father and his brothers were alcoholics. Though
I have no idea on their postion in the autism sprectrum if any. I rarely use alcohol.
I think of it much more but I avoid using it now by telling myself its bad for my blood pressure.

I have rarely used all types of other drugs to. None of which I had a strong need to take a second time.

I currentily take these rx drugs daily:
Prozac 20mg
Wellbutrin 100 mg
Levothyroxine 50 mcg (up it from 25 mcg a few weeks ago and it seems to be boosting
my thoughts more)
Adrafinil 600 mg daily sometimes to stay awake, somebodied mentioned it on a
thread of a related drug (I had alot of it from past use around 2001. ) So I'm taking it to beable to report its value to others who might be interested in its effects.

I smoke marijuana daily and drink alcohol most evenings. I also take Prozac 20mg. I take Levothyroxine 100mcg daily. Was on 50, then 75mcg. Had to really push to up my dose because doctors are funny about it but it has definitely helped. Recently I've been taking temazepam to sleep but my doc wants me to stop.

A somewhat limited study, but still.

Personally I dislike any mind affecting substance.

I don't know why, but I always figured most Aspies wouldn't use drugs. Not in our nature? I bucked peer pressure (I am immune to it) and never took drugs. I've never even been drunk in my life. The only meds I take are prescription for my depression, and I fought it until I got suicidal.

NO, I haven't smoked, or done drugs, and I drink perhaps 30 ounces of alcohol evry 3 years or so. That might be one year, or distributed over all three. After all this, maybe I'll stop that.

I am a recovered drug addict. Started with hashish, ended with heroin. I am still an alcoholic though...
Used to smoke cigarettes before but quit and now I use oral tobacco instead.

Its kind of amusing to see some state they dont do "drugs" yet they have a list of anti-depressants, etc..

I smoke pot, I dont refer to it as a drug

Asides from Marijuana, absolutely NO drug, legal or non, enters my body.. I maybe take 1 advil a year.. Unless I'm sick with something but I dont get sick often, hyper active immune system

As a friend once told me: "They don't care if you use drugs. They just want you to use their drugs."

Smoking
Nope. Never tried it unless in a dream counts. :D

Alcohol
Yep. Is nice. I like baby chams, among other things.

Drugs
Aside from any presciption medicine, does caffiene count? :D

Even more amusing to see some state they don't do drugs but drink coffee.

I really dislike mind-affecting substances; I "tried" pot three times over my entire teenagedom, hated it each time. I have gotten tipsy on wine twice this year, and that is a lot for me. The last time I drank before this year was too long ago for me to remember.

I guess I'm one of those people who amuse you. The thing is anti-depressant action
is such that other than side effect some may have you largely can not tell your using
a drug. Its basically like taking an advil.

I used pot last about 1.5 years ago and maybe what you use is low in THC or you
use it in moderation but I was "wasted". Its a drug.

Oh and I was not making a moral judgement saying the drugs you get from the
pharmist are good and the ones you get else where are bad. I was just saying those
you get else where I have no strong like for their effects for daily use.

Ya, Caffeine is a drug - its terrific for your heart because having a heart rate of 110 while sitting on the couch is healthy < -- that was sarcasm  .. I ask my doctor about his thoughts on pot because I was sick of distorted views, he changed the subject to the dangers of mass amounts of caffiene 8O

I dont drink much caffeine. I guess in my Tea but i rarely drink it (once-twice a week).. Pop, usually decaf or Rootbeer
