Hi I work as a seasonal GS-04 Park Guide at Assateague Island National Seashore during the summer. My position directly deals with the conservation and management of the feral horse population on the island. It's a job I dreamed of as a child and cannot believe I am actually doing it. I have fell in love with the NPS and wish to make it my career, preferably at Assateague. I don't know if this is going to happen though due to permanent positions being so hard to get. If any of you work at national parks I would like to hear whether your experiences have been as positive as mine and which park you work at too.
Wow... I envy you! I only daydream of things like this. Sometimes I think I would like to be a shepherd. Lots of sheep, a dog, nature and NO HUMANS... A pity you cannot earn much money with such a job.
