I just took the EQ and got a 14....should I take this with a grain of salt, or is it pretty accurate?

Thanks!

My opinion is it's only really a tool, on it's own it's not enough to conclude a lot, however when used as one of many tools it can be helpful.

I take all of Borat's cousin's tests with a grain of salt. Look at how many of the questions in his SQ test refer to things that are culturally associated with maleness (and therefore which men would feel encouraged to do and women, discouraged from). Some of the EQ questions are likewise tied to traditional female roles. Avoiding housework, really? When women are socialized to view it as our responsibility?

Doesn't stop me from putting it in my siggy. *shrug*

I'd put more stock in the BAP, Aspie Quiz and Baron Cohen's AQ personally.
See the stickied topic for the full list of tests.

I agree. I find the examples too specific for what trait they are trying to establish. Someone might still have those traits, but just not care about the fields that he has come up as an example with for his tests. We all have our own interests and environments and yes, genders.

I did a statistical factor analysis on this test and it seems to be measuring 5 different things, 3 of which have not much to do with empathy. So if you remove a bunch of questions, then you are measuring cognitive and affective empathy. Your scores for each of these would probably be different to your overall 14.
