Hi All,
I have been advised that as a patient being assessed and treated for a potential set of mental illness conditions (suspected depression and anxiety) under a GP referred Mental Health Care Plan under Medicare (Australia), my mental health record may be shared with private insurance companies and future employers which may adversely affect future insurance coverage, employment prospects etc. As part of my mental health diagnosis, I will also be seeking an adult AS diagnosis.
My friend has advised me that if I can afford it, it may be better to pay a psychologist out of my own pocket to avoid having a permanant record established that may impact me for the remainder of my life.
Is there any truth behind this?
Thanks.
