I'm a pragmatist.

I don't "feel" anyway about it.

It's a disability. I deal with it. If I lost my foot in a car wreck, I would accept that not having a foot was a disability, and I'd learn how to reconstruct my life around the new facet of my existence.

Ditto for finding out about "Asperger's (or whatever neurological weirdness I have).

I don't like having this disorder, but it was a relief to finally find out what was wrong with me.

Dear autism(aspergers)
Thank you for giving me the ability to focus and notice details in everything.
It's made me a better artist.
Thank you for giving me the ability to rationalize things, where most would be blinded by emotions.
It's given me a unique perspective on life.
Thank you for giving me a great memory.
It's helped me countless times.

There's pros and cons to everything. I've spent too many miserable years focusing on the bad, now I've gone to the bright side.
I realize having AS is a challenge,I would lie if I were to say it were easy for me.
I hope you all can think of at least one positive aspect of your AS/autism.

Now I shall shut up for fear of sounding like a preachy after school special.
On a different note, Pikachu!

Thank you for the skill to write unusual poems and music criticism.

I'd trade none of it.

I didn't ask to be born this way-no one did-it is not our fault but we are made to feel as though it is our fault for being this way-and that is not fair at all. I am who I am and when people try to change me for the "wrong" reasons that is also wrong.

I hate you, AS, for everything that I have become. What a f*****g cruel s**t you are, and I hope you f*****g burn in hell. I wouldn't wish for anyone to have you, not even the person that I hate most*, I don't know how such a dispicable disorder could exist, it's just too diabolical to comprehend, you are worse than Alzheimer's. At least the patient with Alzheimer's has had a life of being normal. You come with the baby, and the poor baby, who didn't ask to be born, has to grow up suffering with you, you f*****g cruel bastard.

*The person I hate most is David Cameron.

At least it's not one of the other possibilities I considered, namely:

I'm fundamentally evil and selfish.
I'm a borderline ret*d person who, as an experiment, was told my IQ was double what it is.
I'm not human.
I'm a designated scapegoat and whipping girl, branded as such in a way only I can't see.
I'm dead and in hell.

I am very proud of my Asperger's diagnosis. I look at all autism as a gift to think and see the world differently. Sure I would be lying if I said it has always been easy for me, there have been many bad moments due to social issues. However, I persevered and I'm a stronger person for it. I have Asperger's to thank for my awesome memory, my great focus in my special interests, my need to use schedules and common sense which have become extremely helpful in school and workforce, and a bunch of other things I can't think of off the top of my head.

I actually like myself, so I have no particular negative feelings about being autistic.

Being diagnosed with it was a relief. Like someone handed me the rosetta stone for making sense of my life.

Why? Sensory stuff?

It never stopped me from going to the beach (fishing for me, but I was also dragged to such when little often as surfing was my father's interest).
