Since I was little (since birth) I was slepping at day and wake at night...
I would go out at night and play lego, etc...
AND my mother tried the whole life too change that.
Since I`m going too kindergarden I`m tired, and at school since sixth grade every day too late, since Ninth I couldn`t stand it anymore... I came 5 minutes to 1 hour too late of oversleeping.
I tried several things counting sheep etc...
I even now have realy good body coordination for going faster too school, that means taking with one hand the pants one while making coffe etc...8)
Now it`s like that: I sometimes sleep from 14:00-23:00 and then, when im trying too sleep i can`t get up too 12 at day...
So :
1)I drink coffe --> whole night awake
2)or go sleep and get to late

In vacation (autumn) I sleep the whole day and then I`m awake at night .
If I go at night sleeping i lie awake too 6:00 trying too fall asleep then i wake up tired.
When I was little this was horibble...
When I`m sleeping "normal" that means trying too sleep at night, then drink coffe then trying too sleep again, it always changes to night awake, then again day sleep because then I begin again too go to the 14:00 too 23:00 schedule :P

Do you know what I`m supposed too do. :?:
I dont`t want too drink more coffe( that means a double espresso ) or start smoking + coffe.
Maybe medication :?
Actually today I sleept til 22:00 :)

PS:No way I`m not narcoleptic, thats for sure

Sleeping disorders arent easy to fix (I know Ive tried to fix mine for 20 years) but there are several things you can try.

I have delayed sleep phase syndrom and while none of the treatments for it work for me they might help you since you seem to be suffering from something very similar (it might be the same thing).

I cant recall what they all are off the top of my head but wikipedia has a general overview that might be useful.

Oh, happens to me all the time. It comes and goes in periods. Just a week ago I had a terrible binge where I got to bet at 6am and slet until 5pm. All it takes is willpower, because I was able to slowly work into a new sleeping pattern. I had to stay up for over 30 hours to be able to go to bed at 9pm. Then, I slept untill 7am next morning.

Try and see if that works

I'm going to keep my mental answers short from now on:

I suggest you 'Meditate'

This idea I will persuade to others until I die

Helps headaches, sleeping (you may find you need less), blood pressure, improves focus, mental strength, etc.

There are many kinds of meditation yoga being one of the more fashionable (but less effective in my opinion) ones these days.

Yoga is more about physical health than actual meditation I beleive.

Still would probably be better than nothing though.

I used to have lots of problems sleeping, even as a child I would be awake most of the night, kept awake by continuous thoughts and voices in my head.
I suffer from OCD and psychoses as well as AS so I am not a typical aspie.
I have found that Amitriptyline and Prochlorperazine works very well, I did however put on 2 stone in under 1 year, so I have been also taking Fluoxetine for a few months now and have lost 11 pounds in weight.
Diphenhydramine and Melatonin can also help you sleep, but I have not found Melatonin very helpful.
Simon.

what you have is severe but I have a hard time getting to sleep. Clonidine in low doses helps.

You can do many, there's a whole bunch. Generally, I do the 'sit alone, stare at a wall' routine. I think thats the best; quiet reflection/think of nothing/whatever. You can do breathing meditation, yoga, mantra.. whole bunch.. It just generally clears your mind (I cannot explain what it feels like but you'll feel it).

I can point you to a book. I recommend meditation over any medications, if you ever considered it - yes it requires time and effort from you but I'm sure we all have extra time we'd waste in front of the t.v. After you practice it for a bit, you'll actually look forward to it. I do, in fact, its almost 8 - time to actually go practice - I normally do it for an hour. I recommend going no where close to that and trying for 5 minutes (once you know what to do). Its not difficult.

This "late night thing" appears to be very common to AS.I have seen several threads here about it but not a lot of "cures".Personally I just stopped fighting it.I work overnights for one week then I have a week off when I sleep at 2-4am and get up around noon. This seems to wrok best for me but it stills takes me several coffees and cigs to actually get moving.I could neverleap out of bed and do some stretches without risking concussing myself, tripping over my feet and brains....must have cigs and coffee first.

5-HTP is the best natural sleeping medicine. Ingesting melatonin on its own can cause bad hangovers.

When 5-HTP crosses the blood-brain barrier, it is converted to 5-HT(serotonin). If ingested at nighttime, serotonin is further converted to melatonin. So 5-HTP intake can elevate melatonin without running the risk of bad hangovers from eating pure mela.

Also, try valerian root. It calms the nervous system and reduces N-methyl transferase expression(excessive dopamine - epinephrine conversion), thus calming you down for sleep.

I bought a combo-package of 5-HTP and valerian and it made me sleep like a baby with no hangover.

I needed only 5 hours of sleep since the sleep was quality sleep. Went to bed at 2am and got up at 7am feeling like I was born again.

Revenant,

Can you give us an idea of how much you take? Having a good starting point, and idea of ratio may help.
