Does anyone else find this comforting? Personally I had not done this much and I tend to rock more than anything. Today however I went to the store with my roommate and the store was PACKED. I could hear clothes rustling, the squeaking of shopping carts, a lot of people talking, bodies everywhere, people kept bumping into me. It was making me panic, freak out. It was painful and overbearing and next thing I knew I was running for the bathroom. I ran to the big stall and started spinning in circles. After a little while I felt better.

It was a little dizzying, but it felt so good.

its almost irresistible to not spin when sitting in an office chair.

Mosty, I don't spin because I have big problems with motion sickness and spinning makes me sick quickly. However, I do have a number of movement stims so I compleatly understand how spinning might make you feel better. I tend to rock a lot.

Agreed, and I don't even consider spinning to be a stim for me!

That is usually the extent of my spinning usually, but just doing it standing up, in the bathroom stall calmed me. It was like being comforted I guess. I did better through the rest of the shopping trip, although I was still very tense and stiff, trying to make sure no one else touched me.

I used to do that quite a bit when I was younger; but haven't since around age 10 or so when it started to give me really unpleasant motion sickness.

Yeah I love spinning but I've never used it to calm me down. I used to spin a lot as a kid, my dad says it was my signature dance move.

I spun all the time as a child. I only spin in chairs now.

I used to spin heaps as a child. I found it unusually comforting. Especially on the swings. I dont spin anymore instead i may rock or sing, or flap, or repeat words over n over under my breath. or look at a photo of my best friend who's general company soothes me.

I used to spin as a child heck I still spin once in a great while buts usually when I am extremely happy.Whenever I was happy as a child I would spin a lot.

Being dizzy is one of the worst feelings for me, so I'm not a fan of spinning

The only forms of spinning that I really like is the class that's offered at the gym where you're on a stationary bike the whole time. The other one is riding the teacup ride at Disneyland. When I was a child, I loved to spin until I fell down in the grass in the backyard, but that's it.

I used to spin in circles sometimes when I was little, but don't so much anymore...in recent years, I've developed mild problems with motion sickness and can't really do stuff like going on playgroung swings anymore, and I used to enjoy that, too. It makes me sad.

...Oh well, having to avoid swinging now is probably for the best...I'm so much older now than I was when I first starting using swings for stims that people would probably think I was really strange if I were to still be doing it.
