Maybe it's part of my ADHD but I don't sit down to eat all that much. I'll do it for actual meals but if it's a burger or a burrito I'm usually standing, walking around or my other hand will have the phone or a tool in it. I notice it's not just me, a former employer I strongly suspect is HFA used to do it as well. Sometimes he would have the phone cradled in his neck while holding a part in one hand and a piece of chicken in the other

This topic SHOCKED me and I mean absolutely positively SHOCKED me. I said "What!" out loud and I never express myself outwardly. I knew I didn't write it so someone else did and that was shocking. I can't believe there's someone else out there with AS that does this! It means it may actually be part of it.

I never eat sitting down. I don't like to.. I prefer to walk around with my food or just eat on the counter standing. I don't know why I do it but I have my entire life. I'd grab my food and take it outside and run around on the lawn as a kid and as an adult I just find it way more comfortable to be upright.

Thanks for making this - it impacted me considerably even though I am sure no one else on Earth would understand why but this is a big connection for me.

I never walk around whilst I am eating now. I have tried this on multiple occasions and I always seem to lose my balance!

I wouldn't say I *never* sit to eat but I probably eat maybe 2/3 of my food standing. It just makes sense to me that I can stand right there where I have been preparing the food, eat it, wash the plate/put plate in sink and be done with the whole affair. The times I sit down to eat are mostly when I was in the middle of something on the computer and I got hungry and when I am eating with somebody else (not often).

I never eat my breakfast sitting down, due to the fact I'd be closer to the sink. I'm same way when I'm eating lunch as well.

I have to sit when eatidrinking anything, otherwise I will choke. For some odd reason, I cannot swallow food or beverages when standing or lying down.

Is this an obsessive compulsive thing e.g., that the sink is full of bacteria and you don't want to be near it as you eat?

I'm quite like this. If I'm not eating while pacing around in the kitchen then I'm eating at the computer. Except I never eat around others.

As a child it was a challenge getting me to sit still while eating. I used to like wandering around when I had food. I grew out of it though.

I prefer to sit down when eating anything, especially when out in public.

Never had any issues with such; sitting with my parents, on the other hand......... was a challenge due to my rather icy relationship with them, then as now.

if it's a plate or bowl full of stuff, I'm better off at the table or else I'll do a grand job of spilling it down my front. If I'm just grubbing or nibbling on something, or if it's small like a cup of yogurt, I will pace the kitchen though.

I much prefer standing up to eat, I'm not supposed to do so but I will if I can get away with it.
