do you ever get called creepy?

i've noticed this quite a bit, usually its behind my back - ie i only find out because someone has said something on facebook, ie i come into a room at college and just "hover", never say anything, dont show emotion and seem awkward generally...


anybody had similar experiences, or is it just me?

Yes, Steve Davis the English snooker player has called me a creep twice.
As well as others.

I'm sure I've acted creepy, but I can't remember being called creepy. It's such a wonderfully damning label, though, I keep it in my arsenal to use against others.

Rarely directly, but it's one of those unspoken 'known things' people have about me. Family mostly.
Do I care? Nope, because I know I'm not - and they would too, if only they'd peek out from behind their dumb opinions.

No, I've never been called creepy as far as I'm aware.

I've most certainly felt that way, though. Often, everyday.

For instance, I go to the same coffeeshop nearly every single day in the afternoon. I'm always alone, I always type in my journal for 60-150 minutes, drink 2 cups of coffee, and study the looks of everyone in the shop.

I don't think anyone notices, but if they did, they'd probably think of me as creepy.

But then if they got really interested and chatted with me they'd find out I was anything but creepy. I think.

A few times my thought process has been called creepy. Like "Okay, it's a little creepy how your mind went straight to that". Or "Uh, yeah, how you can immediately see the point of view of that guy, creepy". Or "Ok, how did you know that? Stop creeping me out!".

I myself don't get called creepy much, unless we're watching crime shows on TV (I'm mostly harmless but grizzly fictional murders are so much fun! (hey, no actors were hurt in the making of most of them - no real humans either)) and I start expressing my hope that this week's case will be a serial killer who cuts people up into little pieces. I do get called creepy then - usually by people who will be sitting right next to me in a few minutes going "ooooh, I bet it's the wife and I bet she has a room where she has all the heads mounted on a wall".

I'm sure people think I'm very creepy indeed. Not an awful lot I can do about that but I have been much worse for it recently.

Sure, if you don't talk a lot when young you are "creepy" to some people. In my early 20's I was a "serial killer" because I didnt go out with my roommate at night. Reading and going for walks being a classic gateway to homicide.

He was far more sociopathic on many levels. But he was noisy about it and society loves noise. .

For what reason?

I get people who walk to the other side of the street when they see me coming at night. Durring the day they will walk in the grass to avoid being near me. I ran into one of the people who always did this in a check out line so I waited for him outside the store and asked him why he did it. He asked me if I would be mad at his answer I said no so he told me "your creepy". So I laughed about it then he said I was not creepy anymore. I am 6'2" 289 lbs I stagger when I walk and do not make eye contact very well so I guess I come off as a creepy mental patient or serial killer.

I dunno, I guess I act like a creep.

I have never been called creepy, as far as I know. I do notice that some people take a quick dislike to me, and others do not. I have no idea why. I think that I give off a message that is more antisocial than creepy.

One thing that I have noticed is that when I'm staring at nothing, and somebody walks across my line of sight, they often look at me and give me an unfriendly glare. I do not understand this. I am not looking at them. I am not asking them why they crossed my line of sight. Why should they be unfriendly to me?

Yes... Many many times when I was a kid and teen. Not so much now in my 40s, but that's probably more because the adults don't tend to make observations like that as much as kids do. Some people were even afraid of me, although I'm gentle and "nice" as anyone could be. Yes I was always tall and somewhat bulky in the arms and chest, but never bullied anyone, and never did anything scary or threatening that I know of. People tell me that it was caused by the absence of body language and empty eye contact, which people couldn't understand. And it's sometimes human instinct to be afraid of what you don't understand.

Yes. I felt I had to learn from it. I had a friend a few years ago who I am now certain had AS. She used to "be creepy" all the time but I made a point of accepting it and am so glad I did because I learned so much from her. I could never put my finger on exactly what was creepy about the things she did - for example she was obsessed with taking photos of pets when out for a walk - pets of strangers.
Anyone can get into photography, but it was the way she did it. Unlike the rest of her friends, I didn't try to tell her how to "straighten up" but I did wonder, all the time.

Recently I have been wanting to take photographs on the street myself, I asked for advice, and was advised to ask first if it was someone's property. I've decided not to do this, not to take photos at all, because I am sure that even if I ask it will come across as "creepy" like my friend did. The person who advised me could do it, no problem, because he is NT.

I just don't feel I can "get away" with anything at all unusual, so if I let my freak flag fly, and I do, it has to be in a way that does not require another person's cooperation or consent.

I did this when younger but I daren't try it now, much as I'd like to.
Attitudes have changed for the worse over the years - these days it seems you're either a terrorist or a pervert if you're out taking street pictures, and the Police (especially in London) can have a really nasty attitude to this.
