First of all, some history.

I got married, and moved to California, but due to some money complications my husband and I had to move back in with my parents while we wait for things to get better. Ive never been a healthy individual, even as a child I was almost always sick, I just learned to hide it from my mother at a young age.

Lately I've given up acting... And she's decided to make me a Doctors appointment... I just have a cold, and when I tried explaining to her that I've always been sick she responded with "No you have not, I would remember! Don't be lying to yourself or your husband!". I thought I was being calm and rational, but then she did a complete flip and started blaming herself for any/everything. I feel so lost and confused when she starts acting like this....

She knows that I hate going to the doctor and always have. But I feel like she's overstepping a line by making me an appointment. Am I wrong?

How can I handle her?

You are completely right. I have struggled with the same behaviour from my own mother. But you just can't do things like that to a son/daughter with Aspergers. I hated it, and she has learnt that there is no other option than to calm down and try to reason with me instead. I think it's an Asperger thing

You are absolutely right.

It's also a really common problem for Aspies. It's embarrassign to be critical, since family is sacrosanct, but it's so true.

I'm guessing that you have worse stuff... You should search for 'engulfing ignoring mother,' or something like that. No, it's not normal; no, it's not healthy; yes, it causes some of your problems; and yes, you need to make her stop and get your life back.

Hang in there!
