If you get stressed over small things will that end up towards you have an early death?

I am 22 and worried because i get angry over little things and one of my biggest fears is death :(

Obviously stress and anxiety are not good for anyone. How it affects individuals would vary as everyone has a different constitution and vulnerability to illnesses. If you don't have anxiety medication (which can have its own unpleasant side effects) you could try some herbal remedies such as valerian or St John's wort etc. There are various therapies that can help stress, such as massage, acupuncture, yoga and meditation. It's kind of ironic isn't it, we worry about the worry! Try not to focus on death itself, I know exactly how you feel, but that will only make you worry more.

i just want too live a long life but me getting over small things is so unfair and i find things really hard.

with all the others things going in my life at the moment i just can't get my head around an issue like death and am i not preperared too die young. i hope aspergers will not be my death sentence


at the moment i am

sleeping 7-8 hours a night
eating healthy
and running for miles on most days

It can lead to an early death or just an overall lower quality of life. These issues can nag at the body and mind. You probably don't have much to worry about now, but for later on when you are a bit older, you may need to be more mindful about your decisions.

You sound like you're doing things very well on the health front. All of that will help to counteract the negative effects of stress. You should also find a technique or therapy that works for you to de-stress you too if you are concerned.

It does lead to a slightly increased heart attack risk in those with heart diseases. However, its impact on life expectancy in the non-heart disease population is yet to be proven.

I don't know, I know a lot of elderly people who have lived stressful lives and a lot of them are in their 80s and possibly 90s. And then I know others who had always fallen on their feet and have everyone do things for them and they die early. Not saying this will always be the case, but sometimes stress can make one stronger, especially if they are very independant people and have managed to deal with their stresses, rather than doing silly things like hiding away in their bed or not eating for days or cutting themselves. I stress a lot about all the normal things NTs would stress about AND all the silly little trivial things what others don't stress about, so I technically stress twice as much as NTs do, and sometimes I worry what that might mean later on in life, but again I'm not the sort to stop eating or just lay on the floor for days or whatever. I just have tearful moments and then carry on.

I think crying is very key to releasing stress. Us females can get away with that far more than men, but men can always go into their room and have a good cry too if they don't want to do it in front of others!

I am 63 and in good health. I have lived with constant anxiety my whole life and am not ready to die yet.

My parents get angry very easily and a lot. Because of that, they have high blood pressure and have to take pills to be able to cope with the negative effects it has on them.

I think OP might be looking for more reassuring responses than this though! Like I said, everyone is different, and there are things you can do to reduce or counteract the effects of stress.

Well, I can follow up with this. If you fear this problem you have has potential to create health problems, you could seek therapy, try alternative medicine, do more calming activities, think hard about what you are doing before you get really mad, avoid things that cause you frustration more often, and as a last resort seek prescription medicine. My parents may not die early, but they sure are living a unhappy life because their choices. It is their choice, they just do not try to change their ways which is why they have this problem.

By the way, I wish I could cry more often. It's a great release. I get close, but the next step which is tears, they just don't come out.

I find that a good cry helps me when I'm stressed and depressed. There's no shame in crying. I also keep my stress from getting to that level and it works most of the time. I hope that things get better for you.

I got two words for you. Stop it (worrying about dying from too much stress)

If this is what you're really doing, you're many many steps ahead of most people. Realistically, there's not a lot more you could be doing. Except maybe meditation, like others have suggested. It's been proven to be crazy amazing for dealing with stress. I'm a bit crap at it, (because I get so bored) so instead I learned the Rosary in Russian (I'm neither Catholic nor Russian, btw) and say it daily. It's like meditating, because I'm focused on one thing and all other thoughts fall out of my head for 20 glorious minutes. Whether it's as good as traditional meditation I don't know, but heck, I feel better for it.

Why not give it (or something like it) a go?

CBT is also helpful for some.

Not quite the same but my grandmother had bipolar type one, she had psychotic episodes and severe anxiety. She spent over 40 years on lithium and she lived till she was 85. Anxiety does not need to kill you. x
