When I was a freshman I thought about going to the dance once, but I had the fear that my parents wouldn't have the $5 and then I would have had to ask someone to go with me. Then I felt the prom was for the jocks and I avoided any kind of inclination toward it. In elementary school I did attend most of the skate nights though, it was an interest of mine

I never went to the dances or balls or whatever. There was no point. I was very ugly back then, and I was the most unpopular person in school. Therefore there was no need for me to go.

I went to the prom with Micki. She was so hot. But then I woke up and it was just a dream. True story. Sigh.

I never went to any out of school functions, they were always lame. I would only be at school when I had to.

Never went to my high school prom or any events.
I would have skipped my high school graduation if it wasn't for the fact my parents made me go as they shelled out big money for a private education. Walking across that stage for my diploma was terrifying.

I didn't go to the prom because, believe it or not, I didn't even know what it was. I'd never heard of it back then. I had to be dragged to have my photo taken for the yearbook. I passed on all the other school functions. I was a complete outsider and didn't fit in at all.

Nope. Didn't even get asked, but wasn't interested anyway. It was socializing, which I didn't care for, and it was a dance, which was worse.

No to social events. I think I was one of the rare few who didn't go.

I played basketball though, so I went with the team to various schools to play.

I went to sports events, dances, and even the senior prom. However, I always went alone, and I think I danced with one person at the prom.

I'd go, but then I wouldn't know what to do. With the sports, though, there was at least something going on to watch, even though I never really liked sports.

I didn't go nor did I want to go. Heck, I even tried to get out of my high school graduation ceremony but my parents wouldn't let me. To me, high school was a living hell and I wanted no part of it or the other people I went to school with. I even refused to let my parents buy me a yearbook for my senior year. When notification of my high school reunion came in the mail, I didn't want to go and I tried to find a way to notify them to stop sending me junk mail. There is only maybe one other person I would want to see again from the high school I graduated from and the rest of them i could care less about.

No way. Music that would be too loud to be comfortable with (it's different if I'm at a show of a band I want to see, but it feels out of control in other settings), dancing... I wouldn't even go if that stuff was free, let alone ones they charged for.

I skipped school events. I was forced to attend 8th grade graduation, but put my foot down later and skipped the high school one. I was made to go to the high school graduation class dinner, though. I hated being there. One of the jerks there--anther girl--deliberately poured water on my skirt. I had to pretend not to notice or care, and I was pretty stressed by the time the event was over.

The 6 through 8th grade school I attended had a drama department that put on plays, both for in school, and for after hours. I did once attend an after hours play, by my own choice, while a student. I forget what the play was, though. There was a community theater group, too, comprised of some of the students, and some adults that occasionally put on after hours plays for the general public for pay, with the money going for the 8th grade trip. I attended the "Mouse Trap" when I was an adult, as I wanted to see it. I think I may have been in the eigth grade when I was on a class trip to NY City to see the play, "Jesus Christ, Super Star." The music was nice, but the play was dumb.

I never attended any other public school functions as an older student. When I was a much younger student I went to Turtle Back Zoo on a class trip. I think my father took me there at least once, also. It was nice. Also when young I think I went on a class trip to see the "Dr. Doolittle" movie. When I was attending a special school for several years the school had class trips each year for 2 nights over night to national or state parks. I went on those, and mostly liked those. Once I was an older student and back in public school I chose not to go on trips or attend school functions, such as plays, and sports.

The longer I lived the less welcome I felt among other people, so the more I tended to keep to myself. Why hang out with people who don't like you? I am now in my early 50s, and a hermit by choice.

I decided to go on the day of my prom; a teacher told me there was going to be a drum set, so that was my sole reason for going to it (if you cannot already tell, I love drums)...though, unfortunately I got there to find there wasn't one, which meant that my gullibility had once again "got the better of me"- the teacher had lied to me!...although, the good thing about it was that I didn't actually socialize; we all danced and got to watch our teachers make a fool of themselves dancing. :)
