How can you counter the shut downs/meltdowns that come with autism?

Is there a special diet or lifestyle factors that you can use too lessen the severity of them?

It's going to be a lifelong dilemma . . . about the only thing you can do is find ways to limit the possibility of it happening. A sensory filter kit, if you will: shades, ear plugs, etc (where you're allowed to use them). Hell, in my current job, I've come just steps from melting down (shutting down is scary). Just know what sets you off, and find ways to limit the potential impact.

you need to figure out what causes your meltdowns. once you do that you can see what will set you off before it even happens. you also need to be able know when you are on the verge of a meltdown to remove yourself from the situation before you meltdown. doing that I have had significantly less meltdowns. it does not mean stuff still does not sneak up on me. I also learn how to change from a meltdown to a shutdown, sometimes I can do it sometimes I cant. sometimes its better to shutdown instead of exploding, for example my last job I was working and my coworker was getting on my case all morning. I started to go off on him I was also very close to just quitting on the spot and going home. mid sentence I shutdown and start weighting my options. I then Ignored everything and focused completely on the door I was scraping paint off of. that helped me make it through the day and im glad I did not explode and quit.

the stuff i meltdown over is unavoidable iam afraid as in some certain things about 'over people' make me meltdown such as movment an how big people look on certain days etc... so you can see what the issue is :(

Boy do i wish i would go into meltdowns over loud sounds becasue you do not want too have sensory issues the type of things i do. bascially i am screwed for life.

Lets get realistic as well i can't just remove myself from other people because they trigger meltdowns in me all the time
