Why doesn't anyone write?

What do you do with an interest no-one shares? Isn't that lonely for you aswell?

I don't have much to offer except writing :(

And with writing there are 100 genres I don't care about at all.

I'm doomed. For ever.

you only need to care about 1 genre and do it to the best of your ability. The other 99 are for someone else to worry about.

What genre(s) of writing are you interested in?

Is it vital that you are able to share your interest in writing with other writers? There must be a few reading enthusiasts around these parts and I'm sure a lot of us (me included) would be interested to hear about your writing :)

What sort of genres do you like to write? I'm especially fond of science fiction and fantasy as far as fiction goes. I probably read more factual books than fiction. I like to read about biology (in the broad sense), religion, physics (although I don't have the maths to handle anything hardcore so it's pop science when it comes to that). Do you like to read as well as write? Fiction or non-fiction or both?

I am interested in anything literature, just not small talk. Analyzing. Going deep. Figuring things out.
But that doesn't help me. The genre I'm interested in must be "experimental" or something.

I did not mean to make a personal moaning thread.
I just heard that people with ASD has unusual monotonous interests. I can't be the only one struggling with this.

Forever alone.
You can't write stories to yourself. Not even with the possibility of a publisher knocking on the door someday.
You need a social life. Lol. Maybe I'm all alone with this problem aswell.

Do you "quit" your interests at this point?

You're definitely not alone in the lacking a social life and feeling lonely. That doesn't make it feel any less lonely though :/ Also not with the small talk - that is probably one of the reasons we are lonely :p Most people use small talk to fill in the conversational gaps so I for one come across all weird and intense because I only end up talking about serious stuff and then I always have a strong opinion. Either that or I attempt to do small talk and make a mess of it and come across weird that way. Would you not consider sharing some of your writing with the people on this forum? Everyone needs to moan sometimes ;) I do plenty of it. As far as giving up the interests goes I tried that. I decided that focusing all my time and money into these same 4 or so things I've been doing my entire life was holding me back and that if I made an effort to do different things and see different people everything would be ok. Instead I was just anxious all the time and even less capable of functioning and socialising properly.

Noone writes. That's why libraries don't exist.

I write and libraries exist so I'm confused by this thread.

Have you ever considered trying to get published? If you can channel your energies into a subject with more mass appeal it may be that someone will be willing to publish something you write.

I like reading, but I never find books I like. They don't exist(?) or are very few. That does not make my life easier.

Yeah. I do the same thing. I have shared my writing ^^ On "Art, Writing, and Music" section. But that section is dead. Go figure. You are probably right on the giving up the interests thing, I've tried and failed miserably before... Thanks for giving me something to relate to, man.

Yeah. I've considered it and I'm aiming for it. With mass appeal in mind. Hope it will happen someday. But I need to do stuff with my life before that happens, to even got that point.. I don't like this part..

Cool! We are two now! ^^ That's great :D
But does this help us? :P I don't think we live in the same place. And you being a logical mom and all, I don't know how we would share the interest(?). But you are happy to post anything you want on here, like on the AWM-section. I would be very interested. Please do.
There are just too few of us.
And I don't know what to do about that.
