I do this all the time. It can be anything to quotes, movements, or just images or something. Like there could be a two-second clip of something that can be so moving for me. Any I'm also always quoting characters as it would fit into our conversations with my family and friends and people. Is this a normal thing or an aspie thing or what? And does anyone else do this?

I do it quite a lot, probably because I have a good long term memory and so when we're on a topic I remember all sorts of things from tv or films, trouble is remembering which film / tv programme it was!

I must say I did that a lot when I still watched much TV. I watch about two hours of TV a week nowadays because I have neither interest nor time to do so, but when I happen to see commercials, I pick up a lot of very silly quotes and words, some tunes as well.
I don't use any quotes in conversation, but rather keep repeating them to myself out loud.

Whether this is an aspie thing or not, no idea though, sorry, I can't help with that question.

Actually, I have. I just wish the information was denser, and more usable. A nickname for the TV(tele, fjernsyn, fernsehen) here is IDIOT BOX or BOOB TUBE(BOOB also means idiot in american slang). It IS a good name for it.

For quotes, I have picked things up from 'Full House', 'Charlie and Lola', 'Cheaper By the Dozen', 'War of the Worlds', 'Phil of the Future', and 'Nanny 911' just to name a few. But trust me, there is still so much more.

I do this alot. I always refer to scenes from movies and tv shows when talking about something in real life. I sometimes even go as far as to quote entire dialogues from them. I sometimes get carried away and I think it starts to anoy the person I'm talking to.

I often find my self saying. 'Oh this is just like in/this reminds me of..(friends or something)...where so and so goes..' and then I'll play out the whole scene.

I seem to have a good memory for things like that.

Do you ever feel tempted to use someone elses words(from a movie, other people or whatever) even if it's in a situation where no one could possibly know you are doing it(or even notice the difference in your speaking)? I'm not neccisarily singling out "unusal" expressions, but just day to day stuff?

I can't think of a good example(I can't make it happen, it just does). I'll try to make one up: if there is a character on tv that says: "i must proceed to the school!" I might be tempted to use that expression when I am explaining that I am going to school. No one would know I am using their words and it's not a memorable quote, but maybe if feels safer to recycle their words? :P It feels weird even thinking about it, cause if it happens, it's basically automatic.

Is that like echolalia or something? Maybe I spend too much time inside my head "playing back" stuff I've heard or seen...so much so that I have few "original words" left. :P

Oh yea, also another wierd thing. It's sort of light, but I tend to imitate the person I'm talking to's accent.... :S

Yes, I do it frequently. Some people consider it as something stupid, but other people see it as something interesting and funny.
