Obsessions more prominent when less convenient?

So, as I look back at this summer vacation that's rapidly drawing to a close, I realize that it's been pretty bereft of Aspie-ish obsession. I've partaken in a number of things that I tend to obsess over (music, films, literature), but it's largely in a "going through the motions" kind of a way, doing so out of habit rather than passion. However, with college starting back up in a few days, I'm finding myself very much in the midst of a traditional "obsession"; listening to a variety of music, attempting to find connections between different artists, trying to create a "taxonomy of music" as I've sometimes called it. It's almost like a preemptive retaliation to the stress that I know I'll soon be dealing with, or a security blanket. If any of you watch "Mad Men", I feel like (spoiler) Don Draper in the last shot of the most recent season finale (albeit with fixative specialized interest as opposed to adultery.)

Anyone else experience similar things?
