I just surfaced from total obsession, weeks of it maybe a month i dunno - i ws making this www.ptsdinfo.net i couldn't stop, kept going until i was exhausted, slept in a chair and then kept going.

and now it stopped. it's not finished but i'm not under a spell any more. as a matter of fact, i'm heartily sick of the part that i didn't finish.

the thing is, was this an aspie obsession or another kind of obsesssion? because it stopped. don't aspie obsessions last a lifetime? i seem to have obsessions in a row.

NOPE! Actually, you fit the profile! I guess you could say I had 5 families of obsessions:

Aerodynamics
Mechanics
Electronics
Computers
Languages

That last one has really not been that great because of time and distractions.

Anyway, the aerodynamics was concurrent with mechanics and electronics. I then moved to computers. It is my JOB now, but not an obsession.(It only APPEARS that way sometimes.) The Languages is ongoing. I plan to be hexalingual to some degree within a few months.

BTW I had projects in every category I never finished. I read somewhere that is common. If you had a real NARROW obsession, and it was full blown, you could end up little more than an idiot savant. In fact, some DO call them autistic savants.

Luckily, the obsessions are rarely that severe, and they usually cycle, so it is closer to genius than savantism.

Nice job on the web site.I think it could really help people and in doing so,you are helping and empowering yourself. If it is AS.....then,it's further evidence of positive outcome from aspie obsession.
