What new Aspie interest did you all take up for the month of August?

I started collecting door closers, because I love the way they move on doors when they open and close. I installed one on my closet door so I can watch while opening and closing it. But, it was doordoctor that got me interested in them. She has an awesome collection of door closers with some of them being antiques. Before I met doordoctor, I never even paid any attention to them.

But, my main obsession is with backhoe loaders. Really have a passion for them like some guys have for their shiny new cars. :)

I don't know what counts as an "Aspie" interest, but I've always had fascinations with TV shows and/or rock bands. Right now, I'm in love with Muse and my sister (who is also a fan) has asked me to stop talking about them already.

It is an Aspie trait if you are fixated or obsessed with certain TV shows and rock bands. So if she are telling you to stop talking about them, there is a good chance you are fixated. I love WP because we that has Aspergers can talk about our fixations and obsessions. :)

Mine right now is brainwashing because someone I hadn’t seen or talked to in years told my wife on face book that I brainwash him. So now I am founding out all that I can on brainwashing and it’s driving my wife nuts. Every time I tell here something I learned about it she like “Oh God leave it alone.” Would you call that an Aspie interest?

Well, for the month of August, I for some strange reason got a fixation on the scoreboards in death match games that show how many kills I've gotten and how many times I have died in the game, not sure why really, because I've never experience this before. This fixation only lasted for a few days though and it was about a week ago that I first got it.

But as a result of it, when I played Chess on my computer against a non-human player, I kept a score of how many pieces I took out with each of mine and the number of times mine got taken out by the computer.

Currently I am pretty obsessed with The Vampire Diaries. I'm reading the books again for the umpteenth time, I'm re-watching all my season 1 and 2 DVDs, and I'm looking up images and info about it. Oh and everything reminds me of it, it's pretty much all I think about. I don't know if that counts or not, but that's what I obsessed with at the moment.

I don't have any brand new obsessions for the month of August. :( I wish I did....that would be fun. I did just start a new novel series which I like so far. It's called the Legend of Drizzt by R.A. Salvatore. I really liked another one of his novel series and this is actually his most poular one so I'm giving it a try. However reading fantasy novel series is definiely not a NEW aspie obsession for me. :) I'm not sure if this series will become an obsession or not but if it does then it'll be a dangerous one....there are 16 novels in the series so even to read them all one time through will take me ages....so much for sleep......

This month (or rather, last month, as today is September 1st) I became very interested in seeing the upcoming movie Frankenweenie. I don't know why I wasn't excited for it before, but now I am very much looking forward to it. I smile whenever I watch the trailers. I even ordered a plush from the Disney Store of the main human character, Victor. Also, in anticipation for Frankenweenie, I am also picking up interest in Tim Burton's other stop-motion animated movies, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride (though that tends to happen anyway around this time of year, in anticipation for Halloween). However, I don't know if these movies really count as "new" interests since they fall under the umbrella of a previously-established interest (Tim Burton movies, which I've been obsessed with for the past 2 1/2 years).

I have also regained interest in the cartoon Adventure Time, which is sort of an on-again, off-again thing with me. I don't really know if it can be counted as a special interest because my mom and brother seem to feel that I "force" myself to like it. From my own point of view, I really don't see it as being any different than my other, more established interests. :?
