WP is safe for people who usually get banned (I think)

I should ask this question: How many people here have gotten banned?
I seem to wonder, because I am sure that the administration are more
understanding to a number of individuals. In some ways they can relate
to the mishapers. I haven't seen a ton of locked threads, go on to NT
forums, and they won't care about your AS, they just say AUTOMATIC
BAN.

Wrongplanet is safe, because we all understand eachother, and if a few
are acting up: we are the first to tell them that it's not right, and they will
understand because we all understand; we all understand eachother.

I got banned once from GameFAQs because of a censor by-bass mishap. Soon after, lots of people started complaining why I wasn't there anymore! I managed to contact another user I had gotten friends with and he broke the news to everyone. They even started to make an online petition to bring me back!

Ironically, if it wasn't for me getting banned from there, I wouldn't have joined WP and saved someone's life!

I've been banned five times this year; twice from the same place, and nobody complained about it at any of them. (The *#@$$#@**&^'s. :x)

People have gotten banned here. Usually it's for stuff like trolling or harassing people, though.

It is wierd,

I got a pm saying "stop harrasing people"! I haven't HARASSED ANYONE! I had posts against two people, but they were for warranted reasons. They also weren't harassing in any sense of the word. MOST posts I have written were encouraging, even ones to those two people!

I thought that post was very unwarranted.

Another person posted something MORE acerbic against ME! Ironically, he might have been right about the veracity of the detail. If so, I think it should have been clearer. In any event, the real irony is that I appreciated it! In reconsidering what he said I realized that I spoke the SAME way a couple decades ago! I would have spent more time looking over the detail, and would have reacted in the same way at a statement I saw as being so wrong.

It is ironic that a private chastisement bothered me, and a public rebuke was so appreciated. Although I appreciated it mainly because I got to see the arrogant sounding indignation. If I didn't see that same trait in myself and/or see it as an AS trait, I might have been insulted, and felt like I did with the other!

BTW I think most people here are well behaved, so things, in general, are running VERY smooth.

I don't think your style of posting helps when you're trying to defend yourself SteveK. I mean, you don't intentionally harass people, but when someone accuses you of it, the capitals and the excamation marks don't exactly help. No matter, though, I've gotten used to it, and I like it!

HEY, I ALWAYS use capitals. See there? I wasn't even thinking about it. OK, old habits die hard.

Oh well, something wierd happened. You know what they say.... "Be careful what you wish for!"! On tuesday, I have a very important meeting I don't want to miss, and it will go into the night, so I guess I should STRUGGLE to go to sleep early today.

When I looked at the time, I was shoked to find it is 2am! YIKES! So maybe I won't post so much here anyway. It IS addictive, and I have a lot more time now. Maybe I'll finally read that book on lasers I bought in switzerland 8 years ago that I never really read. 8-( It is written in German, and has a LOT of math, so I can kill two birds with one stone. My apologies to bird lovers. Hey, did you know that ian fleming got james bonds name of a bird watching book? James Bond was the author!

Sorry for the rambling. Oh well, good morn....er.... Good Night!

I have been banned from soviet-empire.com because I posted content from the russian national archieves about how stalin ordered killing of people agains his regime, and for other criticism against communist dictatorship in general.

I have been banned from a danish nationalist website because I was against nazism.

I have been threatened by ban from an international political forum because I criticised a moderator for deleting topics critical towards communist dictatorship.

I got banned from ChinaDaily's forum. It is a chinese english speaking forum. I got banned because I mentioned the massacre on the Tiananmen Square, and critisized China for occupying Tibet and violating human rights.

And if you think this has to do with the forums I am on, the communists forums, nazist forums, chinese forum, etc. think again. Because I have also been banned from political-neutral forums like:

The Danish National Broadcasting service, "Danmarks Radio" (its like BBC, gets money from TV-license), because I critisized radical islamism.

On the very same forum, my topic about North Korea, criticising its human rights violations, was deleted by the moderator.

gamedev.net because in the offtopic section, I critisized Saudi Arabia for its violations of human rights.

Several people are asking to ban me from other forums simply because they disagree with my political opinion. My political opinion? Anti-populist, anti-dictatorship, pro-individualist.

I always gets banned simply because of my political opinion. NT's don't like anti-populism and individualism.

NT's like to ban people for political reasons.

But I continue my fight for freedom in the world and a better life for the people of the Earth. Nobody can stop me, I will continue my fight for liberation of the humans from the chains of collectivism.

WP is not safe from unexplained or unwarranted bannings. Often I wait for the blade to fall on my neck next .

I've been banned twice this year from other boards, once with no explanation. I was temporarily banned and my identity deleted at a third board, but I deserved that one, and was let back in later.

I wish I had as much luck as you. I'd give anything to get my old identity back on another board I frequent (go to the "how many identities are from the same person on this forum?" thread for info about that).

Banning is a last resort and is usually not permanent, if the banned member writes a letter apologizing and asking to come back.

If only GameFAQs did that... *sigh*

I got a ban this year that still puzzles me. Maybe it's my Aspie=ism. I have an ASD son so I posted on a Parent Board. Somebody posted a question about how well your child can "pass." I posted that, as an Aspie/HFA, it's hard to "pass", even if you can do it, and that it's not possible for an ASDer to turn NT nor should anyone try--that autism wasn't the end of the world and I wouldn't become NT if given the chance. Whoa boy. Did I get flamed. It got so bad that I started fighting back and the parents got angrier. It somehow escalated to, "Pam is unstable, has bipolar, and is on a manic high. That's why she's writing these things." Huh???? Finally, I gave up on the board and trolled for a day, deliberately baiting the NT's. The ban was in the works way before that though. To this day, since I tend to ruminate, I get angry at that ban and wonder what I said that was so wrong. I think the parents wanted me to say that their kids would grow up to have no problems and all have great lives, great jobs, spouses, kids and all the things THEY wanted for their kids that their kids may choose not to have. So far I find this place pretty safe, and there is none of that "cure ASD" here anyways.

This makes really good sense considering the nature of this community.

People are pretty fair and understanding here I think. Alot of us I believe had momentary "lost it" or said things without realizing possibly problems with the context of how it was said or something.

YEAH, the stuff I was generally hated most for(outside of caps) it turns out is a symptom of AS, so it should be expected here, even if we do try to act as peers, etc... and not act haughty, etc... Don't get me wrong, I didn't do that with everyone or even all the time, or even really on purpose. Sometimes it just came out that way.

BTW I don't think I have ever been banned, anyway.

Aspie94,

I think they just took your statements as an insult, and wanted to believe you were nuts. With me, my life, and even career, are built on it. My personality is intertwined with it. I always thought that it basically WAS me. Well, I found a name! I found people similarly affected. That doesn't really change the fact that I was basically right all along. I feel just as you.

If they found something that could activate that social part, and change nothing else, I might take it. Otherwise, NO! Frankly, I NEVER trusted the medical community anyway! Ever see/read flowers for algernon? I wouldn't want to have my life end up like charlies did. Sadly, that is a common outcome with medical tweaks to the brain.
