What is this obsession so many have with being hip and cool? Why can't we all just be ourselves? I have no desire whatsoever to have body piercings and tattoos all over, wear revealing sexy clothes, be popular, etc etc.

I do not give a d*mn about being hip and cool. Why are so many people so determined to be "hip" and "cool"? It seems to me like a very egotistical thing.

The difference between acceptance and rejection. Not feeling comfortable the way you are.

My advice would be just be yourself no matter the consequences. Do what you have to do to cope with any negative backlash as long as you're not harming yourself.

What I've discovered about the adult world is that people who are relaxed, composed, and honest about their convictions are considered by most circles to be "cool", and people who try too hard (in the ways you mentioned) are written off as fakes and ostracized from anyone of consequence. Having style is a matter of doing what you like and pulling it off with ease.

But you're right. Putting on the image of being trendy, just for the sake of being trendy, is not only very fake and egotistical, it's also extremely tacky and very uncool.

Being on the spectrum will be cool in a few years. Give it time.

It's hip to be square.

Oh god no.. 'Geek Chic' was bad enough (Loads of people that still cross the road to avoid real geeks putting on stupid glasses because it makes them look 'cool and geeky').
