Watch the entire video. Tell me whether you think she is on the spectrum. Tell me why or why not.

I thought she's awesome in every way.

I didn't watch it all, though she is a good singer, though.

I'd say no, simply for the fact I most associate Aspergers/HFA with improper connection to your emotions, and she seems to be quite an emotional person (and says so herself.) That and there's no lack of eye contact/looking down at the floor, etc. She's certainly eccentric, but one can be eccentric without necessarily having Aspergers. In her case as far as singing and stuff, her emotional connections to herself help her, it could be she's elevated more in those areas than the average person, which could (and does seem to, as a result of the police being called) create problems in her life, but it's an entirely different animal in my opinion to Aspergers/HFA.

EDIT, after watching the whole thing and on second thought...maybe. However it's more likely she does not have autism and is just neurologically different. I have a sister with spina bifida who is a naturally talented (pretty much savant) musician, fantastic singer, and could play pretty much any song by ear on the piano at like age 5. But, she doesn't have Aspergers/autism, she's just neurologically different. So not "NT" but not really AS either.

But at the same time she couldn't tell by the judges and audience reactions how well she did. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you, just throwing that out there. There are a lot of emotional autistic people btw. Just because a person can't explain or express what they are feeling doesn't mean they aren't feeling something.

Some things pointed to ASD (knowing the amount of people in her city pretty exactly), "Do I look nervous? My body is nervous."

My initial thought was some kind of learning difficulty/delay.
Her celebrations at the good comments were almost child like, so there's possibly something like that.

But who cares? She's a good singer!

Good luck to her.

She's very sweet and child like. But, I bet she's far more intelligent than she appears. The fact that she says she's highly emotional is another tick. And saying that her body felt nervous suggests she was having difficulty pinpointing her actual emotional state. So for those reasons I'd say probably yes. I hope she does well.

A bit unrelated to the thread but I always think of chocolate milk when I see your avatar.

Problem is we don't know if it's scripted, and it's certainly edited to lead the viewer into a certain view of the person.. 'talent' shows do that kind of stuff all the time - they tell a story of the persons life, that's probably based on the truth, but changed to elicit the most sympathy.

IMO since she has had a singing career since at least 2008 (albeit not a particularly successful one) I doubt that she's completely oblivious to what cheering or booing are, and I expect few people would be able to read the judges accurately under that kind of stress.. that just sounds like a carefully crafted line to be honest.

These shows care little about the person - by phoning into them you pay for the TV show (many times over) and by buying the subsequent single you make the producers very, very rich. Who actually sings the song is immaterial.
