Does anyone focus their eyes in and out as a stim? I was wondering if this is a common stim.

Never thought of it that way, but it is something I used to do, come to think about it.

I do this all the time! I never really thought of it as a stim.

I do that from time to time.

I also can make "sounds" inside my ears (sort of like loud white noise) - so that is another sensation I deliberately make. I don't know how to explain it, except that I think I noticed that I was making the sound when I yawned. It is not some external sound from my mouth - more like being able to make my eardrums vibrate or something. I have never heard anyone else talk about this, so I don't know what to call it.

I never thought of it as a stim, but I used to focus/unfocus a LOT when I was younger. I rarely do it now though.

I do this every day although, I've never really considered it to be a stim.

That's another one of those things I used to do as well. It's sort of like flexing a certain muscle in the ears that tensions the ear drum a certain way and it makes this low, growling sort of sound.

I do this occasionally for fun, but I don't consider this a stim.

That's another one I do too. I never really could explain what it was.

Yes, I do this, although I don't do it very often. When I was younger I did it much more often.

I too do this a lot of the time, sometimes voluntarily, mostly it seems to be a Dyspraxia thing for me. But watching it phase in and out & controlling it.. Probably does count, though. Interesting thought.

i also often do this, but not really as a stim
i turn my eyes out of focus (and on the same note, tighten my eardrums into white noise) as a coping mechanism, if i am in danger of getting a sensory overload; having unfocused eyes lowers the input i get, delaying the overload

Yep, low growling sound. I have misophonia (a sensitivity to particular sounds even when they are soft - like eating and drinking sounds), so making this "growling" sound in my ears can be a useful way of masking unpleasant "trigger sounds" when I don't have earphones handy.

I mainly do this when I am reading for some reason. It is the worst time possible for it. I have to wear glasses when I read now to stop myself automatically doing it.

I also make this noise when I find sounds annoying. It is useful when I have to go outside near a busy road and I don't have my earphones and MP3 player with me.
