Pretty simple, what would you do to help people on the spectrum if you had infinite resources and the ability to help?

I would make eye contact more of an option and have it socially acceptable to not have to introduce yourself.

I'll take money.

It'd help my autism after all.

I would buy a bus, attract a group of merry aspies, and drive around the country educating others about awetism

Roll into a wee town, go and see[and provide educational literature to] the cops first, then set up a stand beside the bus, in the main street....

I'd pass a law forbidding blaming aspies for their traits.

I'd make society more accepting of everybody.

Excellent answer. Utterly selfless and idealistic. In fact, it's the first answer in the thread that doesn't focus on the autistic perspective.

Now the follow-up question is: how, with the infinite resources and ability to help as bestowed upon you in this hypothetical situation, would you realise your ideals?

I'd provide everyone on the spectrum with a security robot capable of permanently injuring bullies.

Provide social groups everywhere for older teens, adults, and possibly for kids aware of their diagnosis that create a safe space for socialization, the sharing of resources, and mutual support. These would be autistic friendly spaces where people on the spectrum would not be harped at for their different modes of communication but would be celebrated and valued for their abilities.

There would also be tons of programs that focus on social skills training (for those who want it), vocational supports, and independence/life skills training.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

I agree with that one.

I would also pass a law requiring the world to focus on our positives (gifts, talents, etc.), and less on our negatives. That's dreaming isn't it? But, as this is a theoretical type situation, that's the law I would pass.

I agree with both of those comments.

I'd also like to start an Autism Acceptance campaign.

Start schools with science curriculum and without bullies or subjects without proper proof to back them up.
Perhaps a institute for cutting edge frontier development.

Free for students and with housing such that persons that need escape could do so.

Hmm. Tough one. I agree and disagree. I've seen some people blame some aweful behavior on AS that was not AS.

I would develop an educational system that encourages the individual gifts of the aspie as well as a practical social skills program.

I would start a school where, to pass from one grade to the next, you would meet individualized goals. Nothing would be standardized.

There would be several classes, large, medium, or small, and there would also be 1:1 tutoring.

There would be no segregation based on age, socioeconomic class, intelligence, race, gender, or disability, meaning kids would have to learn to interact with all sorts of people.

If you have individualized goals then grades are likely irrelevant?
